I just recently purchased a 2006 4R Limited. I noticed a small motor like noise coming from the the left rear tire area of the vehicle. It had been sitting in my garage for a few hours and I didn't notice it prior to this point. I am not sure how long it was going on, but I did hear it stop. I am wondering what it might have been. I checked the owners manual and the only thing I found with respect to noise was that there could be a small noise for a few seconds from the engine compartment as the VSC system was activating upon start up. This is not the noise that I heard.
Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to educate me on this issue.
I don't remember the exact part that causes the noise, but it's related to the fuel system. According to the manual it happens approximately six hours after the ignition has been shut off.
Think of it as the 4Runner burping.
