I got the intake installed about a week ago, but it needed a little fine tuning to fit properly. We got that done last night, and scrapped the old bracket for something totally different, and it's ready to snap some pics and show off tonight! Still no tire rubbing since the '99 spring install, and I have to say it's GREAT being able to drive however you want and not worry about that embarassing noise, that's not what I want to turn people's heads, lol. So pics coming tonight...

Are you getting better MPG yet? Do you drive like a granny or pretty aggressively?

Mileage has been very consistant, about 20mpg in the city, about 22 on the highway. I drive like both a granny and an asshat, depending on the situation, lol. I will be doing 3" exhaust, which I expect will help the mileage, but the sliders will add weight, at the end of the day I'm sure what I'm getting is what I can expect going forward.
Even going from 31" tires to 32's didn't make any measurable difference, although I haven't been compensating for the different diameter, but the old tires had a larger error in speedo vs. GPS, with the old tires reading faster than reality and the new tires are nearly dead on accurate, and the odometer should follow the same trend, so if anything the old tires were giving inflated numbers, and the new tires should be accurate.
I was initially disappointed as the UK Surf forums cited 24-28mpg, and then I realized they use different sized gallons. Once I converted, I'm right in the same range they are getting, so no surprises I guess.

As promised, pics of the finished intake! We designed it to use either the stock airbox, or a cone filter, turned out pretty nice. Turbo whistle is more prominent, and it looks good. The driver of this project was to clear up room for a circulating coolant heater, not for power gains, as this just carries unboosted, filtered air to the turbo anyways.

Are you using P or LT tires?
Once I installed my E-Rated LT tires and inflated them up to 44 psi my MPG jumped from 17 average to 19 (and Goodyear says I should have them set at 50).
I'm a bit surprised you're not getting higher MPG out of a diesel compared to my regular gas V6, but I guess they're making modern engines more efficient than they used to.

I'm running C-load AT's at about 36psi cold, that's where they wear evenly, anything more seems to leave the edges out of contact with the road. I had them up at 40 when new and that's what I found. E-load would require more psi than I'm using, agreed.
I'm happy with the city fuel economy, but I admit I'd hoped for more on the highway.

Recently got my Taco Whip installed, as the power mast had crapped out on me, and just finished installing a set of 10mm trim packers to level out the rear, seemed to sag with the '99 springs. I'm now sitting at roughly 20.5" from center of hub to the bottom of the fender flare, and no more tire rubbing!

Picked up some Lightforce Striker 170's, and ordered a set of 100w horizontal filament bulbs, and yellow combo filters to replace my tired Toyota driving lights. Can't wait!

My combo lenses and bulbs showed up for the new lights, still need to pick the actual lights up from the parcel service I had them shipped to though. Also scored a roof rack setup, needs some paint, but I've been trying to track one down for what feels like forever!

Lightforce Striker 170's installed! Got the yellow combo lenses, and 100w bulbs, they are very bright! I now need to aim my headlights and the new lights, more than ever!

Pulled the '99 tall rear springs and 10mm spacers out, replaced with OME 906 springs last night. Gained about 1.5" in the rear, finally have some rake in the stance. Rides very nice, and handles better than before with less bodyroll. So far very happy with the change. I'll have some pics after the weekend.
