New From Oregon--2011 4Runner
I'm new to this forum, but I already like what I see. I already saw some advice that helped me(online extended warranty thread).
This is my second 4Runner. My first was a 2002 SR5, burgundy color. Great vehicle. It had 112,000 miles on it. I had just plowed $2,000 into it for routine maintenance (90K maintenance a little late!), new windshield, new brakes, all new hoses, water pump, etc. 4 weeks ago my wife was involved in an accident. She was driving on a snow packed, icy road at dusk. A vehicle was tailgating in this weather and she let him pass. Sure enough, 1/2 mile up the road and around a corner, he spun out and was stopped in the middle of road. She came around the corner, hit the brakes, slid and stopped about 30 feet short of his car. She was just breathing a sigh of relief when she was hit from behind by a Tahoe. Both vehicles went down an embankment, but neither rolled. Not sure about the Tahoe's future, but our 4Runner was totaled. We spent a few weeks communicating with our insurance company and finally got our settlement for $12,500--we thought that was fair. I had just bought a new bike rack too (twisted like a pretzel). Anyway, we looked at perhaps buying a different type of car for replacement. We looked at the Acadia, the Yukon, Armada, etc. We researched like crazy. When it was all said and done, we came back to the 4Runner. We have had it for 3 days and each day I'm so psyched. So far, great vehicle with incredibly intuitive engineering. Look forward to many great years with this vehicle.
