1995 toyota 4runner

new here so bear with me. idk whether i bought a good truck or not but i bought a 1995 toyota 4runner 3.0 v6. has 178k miles and has sunroof, power windows. 3disc changer etc.. its pretty much fully loaded. vehicle is in great shape for its age i paid 4500 for it and when i drove off i tested 4x4 all that works great and stuff but pops when i turn right real sharp.( cv axle maybe?) and also i was curious to is the motor was still good at 178k. the carfax report is about 6 pages long and was taken care of well i suppose. but the years 2001 and 2002 there was no report of it beig fixed or anything so i hope it wasnt neglected. well i was just wanting some basic info on how good the suvs are and how realible and how much more i can expect out of the engine if well taken care of i do all my maintence on the vehicle. ill ttyl

If you do a search for "1995" in the google box at the top of this page, I think you'll find that the only issues with this year truck was the head gasket and water pump, and even those depend on whether it was early model or late year model. I think I read that there was even a TSB put out regarding the issue, but not 100% for sure.

Its ironic you posted this because there's a 95' near where I live for sale for $4500 that i'm gonna go drive by tomorrow. Trying to talk my brother into buying it.

Congrats on the new rig

Welcome!! I'm also a 95 owner. I love the vehicle. Mine has 194k on it and it's running like the day it was built. If you give it some tlc it'll run til the day you die. i know someone that has over 400k on his 4runner. Simply because he takes care of it.
As for the popping in the front end, i have the same problem with mine. A buddy of mine has a S10 and he had that noise turned out it was a wheel bearing. IMO it's the cv axle. due to the fact my cv axles are destroyed. But post up some pics of your 4R.
Best of luck to ya!!!

welcome

the 95 has 2 major recals from the dealer. Call toyota & give them the vin. # to see if the repairs have been completed on your vehichel. recal # 1 is head gaskets , recal #2 was the steering arm or something like that, call toyota & if they havent been performd on your vehichel they will do it free.
As far as the poping goes it is the cv axle. change it out .& the poping will go away in a sharp turn.
Once again welcome!!!!

Not sure about that,I would not ask them, the mechanic & the Billing department are seprate & may never communicate to eachother that its a recall repair. Know what I mean.
Toyota keeps a record of every vin # that the recal repair has been completed on, Just call toyota & give them your Vin. & they will tell you if & what has been performed on your TR4
Phone # is-
Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331

I 2nd JHacker my buddy has a 96 with 200 on the clock still going strong. On the head gasket check the bolts holding valve covers on. If there nice and shiny theyve been replaced. If they are old and look like the rest of the engine compartment probably havent been changed or been along time since they have.Im new here myself but im sure if you use the search bar youll find a write up about your exact truck. Good luck man OH and PICS!!!
