New member 2004 or 2006
Hey all, I am a new member so dont rip me a new one. I have decided on a 4runner over xterra and tacoma. I live in St louis and dont see many sports for sale around here. I did find two and just wondering on opionion on them a 2004 with 90k or 2006 with 100k. the price is different but doesnt really matter. Would you be hesitant on buying one with 100k? I reallly like the looks of the 2006 other than the chrome grill. Or would you travel farther to get one with less miles. Thanks.

Well first whats your price range? If both trucks where 100% the same, condition, color, options, etc I would get the 2006 for sure.

They are both in my price range, 2004 is 14,500 (private seller, 1st owner) and the 2006 is almost 17,000 (small dealer, not sure owner). They are both the same color and almost same options. I wonder if a 2006 with 100k will last longer than a 2004 with 90k.

If you want to save $3000 for with the 2004. But if you have $17,000 I would say take your time and get a 2004 with 70k for $16k.
Its going to be up to which truck was taken care of better. 10k miles is not that much in the long run.

Right on, that makes sense. I want one that has been taken care of. I have been looking for a while and its rare to find one around here. maybe I will travel 400 miles to get a 2004 with less miles that has been taken care of.

2004 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition
Is this the one you where looking at?
If so I would take a look at it, its a nice rig. If in good shape I wouldn't be concerned about the mileage.
I was in the same situation when I was looking 6 months ago. There was a white 2004 sport with 75k miles for $17,500 but I opted for a 06' with 50k for $22k

That 04 sounds like the right price. Especially if you talk em down another G. You gotta look at that one and probably snag it!
Can always toss '06 tail lights on and even the headlights/grill/etc for much less than the diff in price.
Buuuut if v6, are you cool with 4spd trans. If v8 are you cool with no vvt?

It is a V6, I am ok with the 4 spd didnt know there was a difference in years. I like the 2006 looks but for that price I like it better, and hopefully it will last another couple 100k's.

I just meant in '05, the v6 wnt from the 4spd to the 5spd trans. Also, in '05, the v8 went from non-vvt to having vvt which gave it a little more juice.
Just a heads up.

Agreed with the others, the '04 looks very nice, and sounds well cared for! That's what really matters, because we all know Toyota's last 4ever! My hubby is probably going to be purchasing a 2007 Toyota Tundra Limited edition this week with 130k miles on it! It is a lot, more than we have ever bought a vehicle with by far, but it is a toyota and it looks to have been very well loved and cared for, so I'm not really worried about the miles. ;-)
