The "ghost town" of Samoa, taken for the 4R photo tag game.

If you aren't playing the game, you should. It's a fun way to explore stuff in the 4R and justify taking pictures of your truck.

Read the first page or two to get the idea and then skip to the last few pages for the current tag challenge:

It was new tire time for Meredith's truck. I got her Cooper Discoverer AT3s in stock size. I also snuck a 1" lift on the front because I can't stand the factory rake!

Coincidentally, I just put some general grabbers on mine yesterday. Wanted to wait till I put a lift in so I could put on something a bit bigger, but I got a flat, and was running on the 14 year old spare so it had to happen. 265/70r17 E-rated.

Ordered from Tire Rack, shipped to and installed at Firestone. Ordered Monday and were delivered Tuesday evening, and installed yesterday afternoon.

Nice. I'm kind of thinking on some new tires. A guy I met yesterday had Cooper STT Max pizza cutter 255s and they were incredible looking, and apparently good on the road... sigh...

I bought some OEM trail wheels and am swapping them out Saturday, am selling the black TRD Pro wheels. Too much black goin' on there. Need some silver contrast!

I wanted to do more research, but that spare tire was sketchy so time was short. Pretty sure it had literally never been taken off the truck, and it's a 2004. It was at 0 PSI, and manufactured in 2003. They had to spend 20 minutes cleaning the bead because it was leaking all the way around when they first filled it. Put it at 40 PSI to try and really seal it.

It was between the grabbers, wildpeaks, ridge grapplers, and KO2s. Grabbers seem to be pretty quiet on-road, and are fairly aggressive, and were the cheapest for an E-rated that I saw.

Also, if you don't already have a buyer for the TRD Pros, I was looking at buying some just today. Not entirely sure they're what I want, but I'm at least interested.

I do - a guy is meeting my in Redding on Wednesday, but if that falls through you can have them. I'll give you a good discount.

Have you had E's before? They gonna ride a little harsh. I try to run C's for comfort, weight, and cost; although a lot of the more aggressive tires aren't available in our sizes in C. Did you replace the spare, too?

Naw, never had Es. I don't mind harsh, and so far I like how they ride. I also just really like the security of having something so durable, especially the sidewall.

The spare is still an old tire, but the first time I get these rotated I'm going to buy a 5th tire, put it on the spare, and pop it into the rotation.

Swapped out the TRD wheels for TE wheels a few weeks ago. I like it better:

And I just got back from a 3 day trip through the Sierra Nevada range, checking out some cool dirt roads. The whole trip report is here:

https://meefzah.smugmug.com/Septembe...rt-roads-trip/

Here's a few of the shots:

Hogsback Rd, Red Bluff:

Dropping down into Bowman Lake, Graniteville:

Indicator Peak Rd, Susanville:

Just added some more to my to do list. Can't wait for my daughter to be old enough for my wife to relax and roll. Can somebody comment on that by that way? Neurotic wife thinks almost 2 still isn't old enough...

Anyhow, killer pics. Going to be rad to hit up these these type of areas

I have always heard that if the kid is old enough to safely support their own head, they are old enough to deal with the bumps and shaking of wheeling. I don't have any kids, but I have been doing research on the subject.

Anyway, this is the lost coast thread, so here is a pic of Usal Beach

Did you cross the river via the ford or did you access it from the south side of the bridge?

Either way, nice!

Hmm. I accessed the beach area from the north side of the bridge. I think the river was dry. But I crossed a pool of water to access the beach the first time. The second time I just went on by the north end where it's dry. So to answer your question: I have no idea.
