Nice looking setup there. I would consider looking into them just to get at least back to factory caster #'s.

But ver away do to blowing out BJs at 20k just to have them #s

Thats about how many miles I had on a set of SPCs before I went to uniballs.

Hi folks, wanted to introduce myself here. Im new to off-roading and picked up a 3rd gen about a year ago. I’m looking to finally take it out on some trails to see how much I want to invest in getting it set up as an overland rig. A large part of this is convincing my gf that this is something she will enjoy too (she’s skeptical about my proposed investments in gear...) So I’m planning on taking her and the dog out on a trip for Presidents’ Day weekend.

Any suggestions for a spot near the Bay Area that is good for a stock 4Runner with a noob behind the wheel and nice for camping? Also if anyone is planning a weekend trip any time soon it’d be great to meet some of the folks here!

I did quite a bit of research prior to pulling the trigger on these... Seems like people have had really good experiences with them so far, so I decided to be a test guinea pig too. Hopefully they wont wear out in 20k miles, but we'll see! Might be a good idea to carry a spare 1/2ton ball joint now that I think about it...

Welcome!

You probably won't find anything decent near the bay, but it also depends what kind of wheeling and camping you want to do...

There is a dirt road that connects the western and eastern Pinnacles(La Gloria Road), but it's all flat... Nice thing though is you can go car camping at Pinnacles National Park, which might be a good way to ease your gf into the outdoors... Could also camp out at Hollister Hills, and go wheeling there during the day. Then there's somewhere inland of Big Sur, which passes an active military base. Forget the name of that spot. Another spot is old coast road... However you'd need to camp at a nearby state park, as I doubt you're allowed to camp on there...

Other than that, you'll probably have to head towards the Sierra's, but you'd definitely want someone else to go with you in case you get stuck in the snow or SHTF.
