Nor Cal Wheeling, Camping and BS - 2018

Nor Cal Wheeling, Camping and BS - 2018-4rn-jpg
This thread is dedicated to the Nor Cal wheeling and camping trips for 2018 (and hopefully a fair share of BS too ;).

If you're planning a trip, post up here and and I'll do my best to keep the OP updated.

Be sure to post loads of pics from your trips so we make people jealous and inspire others to get out and get their rigs dirty.

Sub'd. Too bad this fandangled interweb forum jazz wasn't as prevalent when I was bored a lot and had way more time.

I'll keep an eye on this but I'll likely always be a game time decision. Looks like a lot of guys attending these trips. That's awesome. Makes me super jealous.

Thanks for putting this thread together

No Inyo National Forest Districts listed? lol

That's alright, AAA can't figure out if Bishops in NorCal or Socal either. Seriously, they've changed my insured location between those two branches 3 times in 8 years.

It's probably good your staying up that way. There's no good wheeling around here. None. Zip. Zero.

Eastern Sierras! I go here quite a bit, but since i'm solo with my GF, I try not to do anything too crazy... Silver Canyon Road, Mazourka Peak, Cerro Gordo Mine, and a few others that I can't come up with are some places I want to hit up...

Laurel Lakes is somewhere I want to go.

Some Eastern Sierra Spots.
Buttermilks is awesome for Rock Climbing, and chilling.

Here's Alabama Hills at night, which is SWEET

Coyote Flats... I didn't really get anywhere since I really wasn't sure where I was going.

Reward Mine. Didn't go inside the mine by car. Walked in just around 1 corner and then turned back. haha

The locals just call it the East Side. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else and I've been to almost everywhere else.

As far as Laurel Lakes goes, just go. It's a great trail and a great spot.

When I first moved here 13 years ago the only vehicle I had access to that could make it up to Laurel was my girls AWD Atsro Van. I do a lot of fishing and needed to go check it out. I also do a lot of back country climbing so I'm pretty fit. My plan was to drive her van until I couldn't then hike the rest of the trail.

I ended up getting that van to the upper lake. As I crested the final stretch before the lake there was a few guys in built Jeeps hanging out. They took one look at what I was driving and all three started clapping. It was funny as hell. I stopped to chat with them and they couldn't believe I got that rig up there. lol

Will do. I've been aching to go lately, but can't find the time to go...

Yea, it's definitely far (Especially from the Bay and 120 being closed), but it makes for a killer 3 day trip. Wake up, go wheeling, lunch, wheeling, camp, sleep. Rinse and repeat.

Yea we camp out there. Super beautiful night, since it's pitch black out there.
