NorCal Adventure Thread 2023

Spent half the day Saturday exploring the Perazzo Meadows/Webber Lake area off of Hwy 89 North out of Truckee. Ended up at Jackson Meadows Reservoir as one of the last stops. Haven't been there since 1998! Still just as majestic.

Where has everyone else hit so far this year?

So far this year, we’ve been to Death Valley (NOT in NorCal hahaha), Bothe-Napa campground and Shaver Lake. Soon, we will head off to Mendocino for 5 days. Aside from Death Valley, they were all developed campsites. Looking for a nice off road trail camping area for dispersed camping.

Any updates from anyone? Nobody else hitting the trails or camping wheeling etc?

We got back from 5 days at Van Damme and it was awesome. Weather was perfect. The drive to/from in 128 is always amazing. We hung around the campsite most of the time, but headed into town a few times for some miscellaneous items/ice etc. I really need to buy a fridge.

On Friday I made another run up Jackson Meadows Rd in Sierra County. I hit Morgan Point, Lake of the Woods, and once again, Perazzo Meadows.

I drove 128 from Cloverdale to Hwy 1 for the first time last year, albeit in my Avalon. What a gorgeous drive, like a miniature Avenue of the Giants!

When I had my Mitsubishi 3000GT, we used to take two cars so I could enjoy the twisties! NorCal Adventure Thread 2023 Man it sucked getting stuck behind a trailer or big rig. I just love that drive and the scenery.

In my 2021 ORP, it lumbers along ok. I will have to admit that I am very impressed at how well the KDSS system keeps the 4Runner flat in the corners, even loaded down with camping gear.

Yesterday I went to Lake Valley Reservoir for a few hours. Stopped at a rock pile for a few glamour shots, as well as some more nice scenery. Never gets old...

Nice!!! Are those rocky trails typical to get there or are there friendlier trails? (Driving stock 2021 Off Road Premium).

Ha, the shots of my 4Runner are a little trick photography, lol. It's a rock pile right off the paved road. Lake Valley Rd runs into Forest Rd 19, which is an easy stock-rig road. It runs alongside Lake Valley Reservoir. Yuba Gap exit off I-80 East.

Heading out to Loon Lake in the morning. This will be my last long trek for the season before the snows start. Pics & video to follow...

For any last minute people, going to take the Zuk up to Signal Peak in the morning sometime between 8 and 9. If there is any interest, I will post a more accurate time in the morning.

Made the trip to Loon Lake on Friday. It's been 25 years since I was there, and I didn't have the passion for the mountains & the scenery that I have now. Absolutely stunning up there.
