Well, I went out solo today and had a great day. Ran Slick rock from Alpine to Utica then went a ran Sourgrass. I was the only person on Slick Rock this morning. Good times.

Whoever can, I cannot recommend Poker Flat enough. Hit up Saddleback road near Downieville, check out Saddleback Lookout, continue on to reach LaPorte eventually. Lots of camping options. Challenging, bumpy trail, but not super difficult.

Hwy. 4. There are a total of 4 trails as well as many other areas up there.
1) Sourgrass
2) Corral Hollow
3) Slick Rock
4) Deer Valley
Lots of forest service roads and Blaxk Springs OHV.

Your guys thread is so much cooler than the Montana thread lol.
Awesome pics too! I would share if I had any. Moved again so summer has been a bore doing house things every weekend.

Wheeling Sat 8/31 or Sun 9/1
Know I've been MIA a while... new job and regular adulting crap is really taking a toll on my spare time...
Anyway, Im looking to hit the trails off HWY4 either Sat 8/31 or Sun 9/1 while I'm up in Dorrington. Corral Hollow and Sourgrass are favorites, or maybe Slick Rock, or Mattley Loop or Ridge or something else in Black Springs OHV.
Who's interested?. Never mind can’t make it out :-(

Hi, I am pretty new to the forum and still getting my 4Runner a bit more off-road ready. What mods would you say are needed to do Slick Rock? I was up there a few weeks back and the alternate entrance scared me off.
So far, I only have a mild 2” Fox lift with 285/70r17 tires.
Thanks!

Sliders and skid plates with 33's would be the bare minimum and would require a lot of stacking and taking all the bypasses. Even with 35's, I use all of the armor and at the ladder, use the rear locker. At the new reroute, there is no bypass for the 3rd section ( Slick Rock ) and this was only the upper portion. If running stock bumpers, they will get drug on rocks.
This trail in not a trail to learn on. Corrall Hollow would be a better choice for starting, even Singal Peak is better, even if you take the official route, which is the hard right turn up the steep rocky section.
