Eagle Lakes?
Go left instead of right onto Signal Peak from the Indian Springs camp site[/QUOTE]
Now you remeber what happen the last time you went that direction.
But, I would be game for it!

I’ll be rolling in my new to me first gen so I was thinking of something I’ve done before as a shake down run / to continue getting to know her.
But if there’s enough interest in something else- I’m open to alternatives.
What’s everyone’s best /final recommendation?

Haha
We could do it up to the downhill portion before the first water crossing from the Indian springs side. It was good until that point... After that... It slowly gets worse.. And worse.. And worse...

That one is combined with Snake lake trail also.
Periodically you have difficult spots, but nothing I dont think any of us cant handle.
Interesting to do the goal post uphill.
Been a few yrs since I've done it.

From whati remember, you go through the first crossing, then a flat area to camp at.
Then you have some ruff stuff before hitting the first winch hill/water crossing.
Just after that I do believe is where you escaped.

Looks like Long Canyon (off HWY50 @ Kyburz, down Silverfork) didn't close from Caples Fire, so that is a good alternative.
Would Long Canyon work?

OK, I am sticking with the original plan of Signal Peak. See below.

the plan is as follows:
7:45 am - Meet at Starbucks in Sac. (8393 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95826)
8:00 am - Caravan to trail head (I'll be rolling slower than normal so I'm allowing more time than usual)
~10:00 am - Meet at staging area / trail head (on Carlyle Rd, just past Indian Springs campground: N39° 19' 53.9", W120° 34' 21.5" aka 39.331639, -120.572639)
~10:15 am - Hit the trail
We should be off the trail by 3:00 or 4:00 pm or so (depending on how long we stay at the peak).
@ 4Reak Show
... so you know the details in case you can make it.
@ MarkamisPrime
@ rochmpr

anyone else?? Let me know so we can be on the lookout for you.

hey sorry but I'm gonna have to flake out. I have to put my truck back together tomorrow and only have one day off from work to do it. But I'm still looking to get out next weekend, I really have no plans in terms of where and am down to try anything you think we can run.

That's where Brain should go for a shake down, closer if there is going to be problems.

Agreed, but oh well. It seemed like it was just a loose battery connection, since he tightened the battery clamp and it didn't have issues for the rest of the day. Just glad it wasn't a major issue.
