Alabama
I moved down to Alabama from Washington state recently and am looking for leads on places to go off-roading and camping. I am not really looking for the big mud pit, but more some good trails that lead away from people and have some challenging hills or something along the way. Any leads would be appreciated.

Near Dothan. From what I am told there isn't much in this area.

If you make it up in the NE part of the state we can get some stuff done! Plenty of trails here in the mountains.

Mississippi-Mud Forums
Might want to give these guys a shout. I think they run trails in northern Alabama.

National Forest and Alabama Power. Never have any problems though ;)
If you want to make a day out of it hit me up and I'll make sure we get a good group going. There are also a couple good parks here in town...I've never been but I have a lot of friends who wheel at both on a pretty regular basis.

Theres the Great American Park its about 5-10mins south of Auburn, AL. Its pretty big and pretty nice. Theres also Stoney Lonesome has a bunch of trails. Its near dodge city, i think its like exit 299 on I-65.
I know there are a few more parks i just cant think of the names.

You are just a hop, skip and a jump down the road from me. You just need to know what to look for. Plenty of ridin to be done in the woods.

One good area that wouldn't be that far from you would be near Eglin AFB in the Florida panhandle. Check out some links here with pics and writeups from their trips. There is also Stony Lonesome near Cullman, AL, Grey Rock near Gardendale, AL and tons of WMA trails in NE Alabama near Fort Payne and Stevenson. Also check out some trails near Mt. Cheaha and the Talladega National Forest. There is also Skyline WMA in NE Alabama. Hope this helps!

A lot of wheeling involved getting to know the local "good ol' boys" to find the places to go.
Others have mentioned several parks and such, but there are several thousand acres that we ride in Tuscaloosa owned by the coal/gas companies and the Army CoE.
