Air compressor

Has anyone found a decent yet cheap air compressor that can be mounted to the 4R just for airing up tires? I don't go on "planned" wheeling trips very often, they are normally impromptu, so I often don't have a portable unit with me.

Do a search - a couple have put on ExtremeAire, but they may be more expensive than you have in mind. The last thing you need, though, is a cheap unit that gives out on you when you need it.

Best bang for the buck (Model CC230000RB)! Works well; can add 15/20 lbs in each tire (all four) with the charged battery(a little slow) .

I'll have to say I bought one of these before my beach trip and it performed very well.

I wouldn't trade for my Extreme Air Portable. I can throw it in when needed and take it out when not. It's 100% duty cycle which means you can air up in a decent amount of time even when your at 10,000 ft. Some compressors take a LONG time and will drive you nuts. I know you don't want to spend much but it's been worth every penny to me. See my sig.

Well, I can't find any of those stores around.

And you can't order them over the internet either. It looks like a road trip may be in order.

I wonder how well they will hold up under the hood?

I actually picked up one of these at Pep Boys a few days ago.

It is very impressive for $50.

I did some online comparisons of the specs and nothing 3 to 4 times the price even comes close.

I got one myself. I air up from 12PSI to 40PSI in less than 5 minutes.

I also tried airing a queen air mattress with it and it took about 15 minutes.

Decent for the price. Hope it is durable. But for the occassional use I need it for, it is perfect.

There are two models at Kragen (Checkers), the 24.99 and 49.99 model. The cheaper is less powerful, and the 49.99 is the 72 Liter Per Minute model mention in the review. IMO, spend the extra dough and get the better one.

I don't use the compressor enough to justify spending more.
