Holy CRAP but I have to get into the CO mountains. I'm jealous. We have ghost towns and old mines in Utah, but nothing like that...

That put you 6h 46min from Crystal mill, I'm only 2 hours closer. It's one of the prettist places on earth but it is way out in the middle of nowhere.
Thats just one idea. Here is Eureka Colorado.

Any suggestions for trails in that area? I'm heading out there to see a buddy after Christmas. He's got an old Toyo pickup with the 22re and I wanna do some fun trails with him and my new 98.

What are you looking for? American Fork Canyon will be snowed in and gated off, so your best bet for technical and local will be the Snakes trails at Five Mile Pass. Rattlesnake is stock friendly if you pick your lines right in a couple spots, Constrictor not so much, Sidewinder is buggy territory.
If you're looking for mellower, there's fun exploring out at Five Mile Pass too, also out the Pony Express Trail, the old Transcontinental Railroad grade, the Newfoundland Mountains, the Sheeprocks, the Simpsons, head out to the desert and you'll find lots of very remote and beautiful ways to burn a day.

Only the first one. The rest are just stock photos from another website. I'm at work so I can't use my SD card to load more of my own. I have some great GoPro vids too.

Solid! Thank you for the suggestions. The 98 has a 2" suspension lift with A/T tires. ARB bumper with winch. But i'm new to the 4 wheeling world and so is my buddy with the 22re. So something simple/easier with beautiful views.

Post up your dates at this forum: http://desertrunnerst4r.forumotion.com/, hopefully at least one of us can join you. I hate to see new guys have to wheel by themselves.

Just realized I wasn't subscribed here... I would love to get out, but schedule is pretty tight right now. Definitely planning to get a multi day trip to Moab planned after the first of the year.

Happy I stumbled across this thread. I've been researching ghost town/mine trails in CO. Those pictures make me want to check those places out. I'm planning a multi day wheel/camp trip with the wife. Anyone ever done anything in the Ouray area?
