Downey Skid Plate
I'm trying to install Downey Skid Plate on my 4Runner, but it won't line up as it should be. I called Downey and talked to their technician, but still have some questions.
Does anyone has Downey skid plate? If so, could you post some pictures how you mounted it?
This skid plate is for 01-04 Tacoma, but it may fit 96-00 Tacoma with some modification, 03-06 4Runner.

You need to drill 2 holes near the rear (flat) end of the plate so you can mount it to the cross member.

Actually I did mount it. Yes it need be drilled out two holes in the back, hole for "C" brackets at the center (another "C" bracket has to be welded up at the outer side of the skid + more holes for oil and transmission drains.

I didn't have to weld anything to the plate to get it mounted. I welded 2 brackets to the front crossmeber to hold the front of the plate on I also drilled 2 holes in the rear of the plate to have it line up with the tapped holes in the other crossmember.
What is this "C" bracket you refer to?
I also didn't open any holes to change the oil. I remove the plate each time. I "lost" my stock plate when it got hung up on the oil drain access hole.

"C" brackets are two big brackets holding the skid in the middle.

do you have a pic?
Its been a while since I got mine from Downey. I would like to see what changes they have made.
There were no mount points in the middle of the plate when I installed mine.

I knew it wasn't a bolt-on.
Nothing wrong with the skid. It's good piece of art. At least 3 times thicker then stock. The down point - it's too small and need custom fabrication. Overall it's fine for me.
