Day 5 was the day we'd been looking forward to - the run from Seneca to Granite was what we'd tried to accomplish in May but had been foiled, clearing dozens of down trees and ultimately running into two water crossings that we couldn't ford. Would our trip, three months later bring us redemption?
Yes, yes it would.

Awesome! We had the same problem with the same cows haha. We also didnt explore inside the house and were irritated that someone had busted out the windows.

So... ummm.... it's been 3 years since the trip originally spec'd out in this thread got canceled last minute due to a death.
For any of you guys that are still on the forum and still interested, would anyone like to try this group trip again?
I'd love to. I've still done 0 planning though, but this would be a good excuse to finally order the OBDR maps I've been meaning to get for a few years.
I copied the below mentions from p. 1 so hopefully everyone is included.
@ Rock_Rat
@ GhostRing
@ BlackWorksInc
@ ZPT_Yoda
@ Rcastle
@ GSPRunner
@ BackOff
@ Brian3676
@ shearn
@ Dropzone
@ jayd524
@ ram3010
@ Kotrin

It may be harder for me currently. I've had a few more surgeries since than due to my spine and have been diagnosed with liver disease. I'm working on trying to do another trip before I lose the ability to but its looking like next year(2021) for me

Count me out.
Last flop, hottest year on record, covid-19... my grandma is turning 100 in August, any non normal activities stress her out.
Hope i never live that long!
Also my t4r is consuming antifreeze 2inches on the reservoir in the last 6 months.
Hate to be that guy that breaks down out in the middle of no mans land.
WHAAA
/cheers

..a lot of the names mentioned above I have met or know of through this forum.some of them would recognize me ..but not know me by name..I was a park ranger up there...and some of you I met on a professional level .I was low key but over in the parking lot of work would be my 4runner...or we would wave on the back roads. I miss the adventures and the help on roads trips,projects...even chasing down parts and that went both ways...i helped others sometimes in a professional level
....however...you guys are really hurting my feelings. I really really miss the back roads of Oregon and Washington.
Lots of people told me I would love the exploring in Alaska, the back roads, the overlanding and its nice, but nothing like the PNW. and the fishing and hunting has been amazing, yet the mosquitoes need landing lights and tail numbers. This weekend one king salmon, 15 salmon and white water rafting. Camping with eagles less than 20feet away. Living with my kids and grandkids and even a great granddaughter, now that im retired. ( both my boys..and families... moved up here...one owns a fishing charter the other an avid fisher/hunter) that said...I really miss the back roads of the PNW and if I could afford. would move back to Oregon's McKenszie bridge/sisters/bend area in a blink of the eye...if I could afford.
enjoy your trips you all, the PNW is amazing. Enjoy it while you still have it.
I dont miss the population of the PNW as it was getting to the point where being alone on a back road was not happening, running into wannabe's broken down on with ill equipped rigs or driving like they were on a hiway...flying down roads that they had no idea what was ahead. more troopers on the back roads because of all the people and abuse..and slobs that camped and left all the garbage behind.
but boy I miss some of those roads/views

Been a while since I've been on here. I poke my head in and out once in a great while. Good to hear from you. The OBDR is a "maybe" for me this year. After I hung up my boots from coaching soccer for so many years, I've been spending most of my time with my first love - hiking and mountaineering. I have been getting out quite a bit, but nothing major. As luck would have it, I just finished climbing up in the North Cascades and picked up a PS leak. It looks like the rack will need to come out. Also, I believe my AC compressor is out. It won't hold a charge for more than a cpl hours. I'll try to spend more time in here!

I'm a bit newer (both to the 4R community and the PNW), but I'd be down depending on the dates! I know things are a bit of a mess around here right now between COVID and the fires, but I just finished all of the major work on my rig and am itching to finally use it in this glorious outback.
... with that being said, I'm at 263k miles, but most of the tedious and major maintenance has been done within the last 30k. I wouldn't doubt that this motor will get me to at least 300k before needing a rebuild. ;)

I'll keep you posted if I put something together. Snow be flying up high before too long so I'm not sure if it'll happen this year...hell, we may all be dead by next year anyway...
