Trails near Julian in SoCal?

I'm looking for trails around Julian in SoCal or really anything that is within 1-2 hours of northern San Diego.

Does anyone have some good suggestions for some novice trails around the area? Hoping to go see some snow tomorrow and do some offroading.

There is a truck trail in Julian.
http://www.off-road.com/trails-event...ils-53551.html

Its definitely considered novice, I guess, since there's video of a wrx doing it on youtube 😀

Hopefully you're not going alone, you have tires suitable for off road/snow, straps, recovery points, and a plan to get home if you break..

Corral Canyon ohv is a nice ride. There is a large scenic route that goes the perimeter of the park and its a step up, but doable with 4wd. It'll take about 3hrs to do the 14 mile(ish) loop if you go fairly slow and dont want a bunch of scratches.. I did it in about 1.5 hrs in my 1st gen.
(They have been closing the gates out there lately for rain... call first)

Post up pictures of your truck..

There is a GPS file you can download that shows the route I took. It is still up.

You start in Julian and end up at the edge of Anzo. Bring water and food.

Here is the same trail but with a map at top. You start about 10 minutes NE of Julian and drive into Anza-Borrego.

Julian to Anza Borrego route

Thanks for the great trip report Brian. I hope to follow this in a couple of weeks on my way into Anza Borrego. The canyon route looks like great scenery. I've been looking for a route from the Warner Springs/Julian area down into Anza Borrego.

Right now I'm mired in house repairs and prepping the house for a kitchen remodel. Leveling the kitchen floor next weekend. We have a 1913 Craftsman relic.

Glad to help. Those are only some of the photos, most are in a post in my build thread. These pictures are from two years ago in Feb during one of the driest of 100 years California in California history.

Fast forward to this year. Complete opposite. I expect green hillsides and hopefully lots of flowers. I'll find out next week.
