yeah your right, the rocks are a little slick right there. You turn, but end up going straight. Once you fall in the crack it gets quite exciting.

the buttes are fun in 4runners. that place has alot of pure climbing obsticals that are tough in lifted, short wheelbase jeeps. the longer 4runners climb like billy goats lol. it makes me think of a skateboard park with all the neat stuff

I have a 4Runner for day to day get the family around but I am a Jeep guy for off-roading.
I am not a fan of IFS. I have had an IFS 4X4 in the past and spent over a decade in the Army driving Hummers. I will tell you the 4Runner IFS is about the best stock IFS I have seen.
The pic. above is at Calico, Close to JV. I miss that area for wheeling. I had a buddy that had a older built 4runner that could climb those falls with ease. It was much tougher in a Wrangler. But there were places where my Wrangler could easily get through that was tougher for the 4Runner (solid axle).
Both the 4Runner (I am partial to solid axles) and the wranglers can cover some rough terrain. I don't really like the Jeep Cherokees or Grand Cherokee. I would rather have IFS than a Un- Body.

I was going to say I have only wheeled with Jason a little but he definitely knows his truck. I only wheel some of the Upper moderate stuff (Black Diamonds in Big Bear) and while I consider myself a good driver, I still make plenty of mistakes. Knowing that and the fact my truck is Daily driver I sometimes shy away from the more extreme. Good looking trail and I will have to do it someday with you and the other So Cal guys.

Troy, yes it was Edwin and I that were on Cleg with you and Scuba that day. I also bumped into you at Vons in Big Bear during Takeover. There is a good group of us 3rd Gens that wheel although I have missed the last couple runs. We should try to put a run together again soon.

Thanks for all the good comments
And as far as the ifs goes, it works okay i know how to wheel my truck. You have to take it easy on the hard stuff.. No dropping the clutch or mashing the gas

Hey Jason killer pics again. That area is awsome. I am with "just go for it." these runners will do a lot more than most people will even try to do in them. I'm down to set up a run for Feb 27th, its my b-day and ill wheel if I want to.
