for joining us on the first ever Summer Family Outbound Overland trip. Despite the rain we had so much fun! It's seriously awesome checking out other people's rigs and gear and getting inspiration for my own. Cooking and camp fire chats were so nice. We had four kids total - a four, two sixes and a seven (and two puppies). Let me tell you - these kids had a ball and were such good troopers in the car. We saw wild blackberries, some wildlife, lots of butterflies and drove in the "clouds" (fog) most of the day. A quick stop in Sugar Bush for treats at the general store and everyone was in great spirits. The rain meant we had some fun puddles to play in!
For those that signed up and had to back out last minute this round due to rain and distance, we totally understand and we're looking forward to throwing together another attempt at a family trip for end of September or early October. Kids and dogs welcome. For those with young children (under 2) who are on the fence about camping - start 'em young!!
Todd Lake ended up being an amazing campground! At $16 a night, you can't go wrong. The most meticulously maintained park I've ever stayed at. Clean bathrooms with hot water. Large flat sites. Really nice little beach area and playground too. First come first served though. 20 sites total.

did a great job improving the new route last minute. We weren't sure what the weather was going to do so we took it easy in the morning but as it cleared up, we definitely hit the trails up to Flagpole Knob and that was fun. We got in a lot of driving on Saturday being on the road from 10:30am to about 6:30pm. I'm sure we'll have some trip pictures posted soon.
As we clean and re-pack our gear, we're jazzed to be getting ready for the Mid-Atlantic Overland Festival Aug 10-13.

and I will be manning the GAIA GPS booth - look for the huge red Outbound Overland flag. We'll have GAIA freebies and Outbound Overland merch for sale (patches, decals, t shirts and hats).
It means the world to me all the support you guys had for this trip and appreciation for the months of planning it took. I look forward to meeting you on the trail next time and/or seeing you again soon!

Please add me to the notification list. Not sure we can make the fall event due to our sons college soccer schedule, but would like to stay informed of future events. We just moved to Ohio from Colorado and would like to get to meet some people and do some exploring. Looks likes great trails and events, and an incredible community! Hopefully we can make the drive over for some of the events.
