VSC disengage by switch
Has anyone come up with anything to disengage the VSC ? A switch to turn it on & off. Damn it can be a dangerous function .
I was reading about someone on FJ forum that did it ?

Really? Where and what forum did you read that? I am interested to. Although I do hate the VSC, I have gotten a bit used to it and once you know and can predict how it will engage it is much more manageable then it was in the beginning.

I'll have to check under the hoody today. I'm thinking it should look the same since I've got the V6 like the FJ's.

The mod described in the FJ forum disables VSC TRAC and ABS. I'd prefer to keep ABS functional.

Well i just got the chance to look under the hood. It looks just like it did in the FJ's (at least in my V6) I disconected the plug and rove around the block. There were four light that turned on on the dash... VSC OFF, VSC TRAC, the light of the truck swerving, and for some reason the emergency park brake light. I didn't try slamming on the brakes to see if the ABS was deactivated, but there wasnt a light on for it (but i dont think there is a light for it... im not sure) Everything worked fine, drove fine, and i was surprised at the potential of the truck! Got some tires spinning and im deffinately doing this mod. (even though disconnecting the plug serves the same purpose)

Agreed , I would want to be without the ABS at all. Just the VSC , but if I had a choice to disable it I wouldn't like that , it does have a real good side to it , as I found tonite . It kept me on trac in very slippery conditions.
An on/off of the VSC only would be good. If you could locate the 1 wire that controls the VSC you should be able to splice it and run it in a circut with the switch making the contact when want on uncontacted when not wanted. Would that be correct ? Seems like it would be simple and easily reverseable mod.
When you plugged it back in did the lights all go off and everything function like it should.????
You could pick up a factory switch for the loop and it would look like factory.

I disconnected the wires and took some pics, my ABS light did not come on/stay on (just left of e-brake light), so again does that mean that the ABS is not working? I drove around the neighborhood and actually got all four tires spinning on the dry asphalt... that was fun!!! I reconnected it and had no problems. All lights went back out. The e-brake light did not stay on I just had the e-brake on when I took the picture. I wonder if there is a long term effect? I have alot of questions about this mod. I want to do it, but I also want it to look factory. here are some pics.

Falls,
Yea, once its plugged back in everything goes back to normal, no warning lights, and the VSC kicks right back in.
The factory switch would be nice, but i think it would be harder to install. I did an ebay search and found one for the 07 FJ, but, as expected, it was one that just plugs into a harness, meaning simply splicing the wires and adding a toggle in the circut would be kind of out of the question. i think you would also need the harness. Im not sure on any of that though, just my guess looking at the pic. (plus its expensive for a button... like 60 bucks vs. a $3 toggle switch.
Now for my questions. If im going to use a regular toggle switch, does it matter which wire i cut and add the switch to? the guy in the FJ forum used the lower wire. and also (this is kind of a dumb question) I was looking at toggles, and the rating of each confused me. will any on off toggle work?
