It might be tough for after April but I’m down! I would be available before too, I do understand that it’s cold and it would just be a day thing but any learning is better than none.
I’m in for this month or anything after that.

Sorry guys...this somehow fell off my feed.

I’m absolutely down for a day off the pavement. The cliffs is fun and pretty close for most of us. It would be a good jumping off point. Let’s see how the weather looks since I know some of us hate mud and they have plenty of it when it’s rainy.

I added you to the list, too.

I don’t know what kind of maintenance they do at the Cliffs but when I was there in the fall, the back of the trails (Alligator Alley) was rutted out like mad. I saw they had some heavy equipment there so I’m hoping they go through and correct at least some of the areas that have been torn to crap.

Nice! I might end up going this weekend with a coworker even tho it looks like it might rain a bit. Worst case scenario I won't go on some trails that look really bad. I see multiple people say airing down is the best thing while on a trail. I need to find an inexpensive way to air back up or travel about 2.5 miles at 20 PSI to the local BP... Any suggestion?

I have a small 2 gallon air compressor I run off the inverter. It works great. If you’re serious about off roading there are awesome options out there that you can hook right up to your battery.

It’s gonna be super muddy everywhere. The main trail that goes all the way around has detours around alligator alley but it’s still gonna be muddy. Make sure you have recovery stuff.

You still on stock tires?

Well after doing more research and hearing you and others advise me about this location I might not go. I might end up changing course for Badlands in IN, others have said it's a much nicer trail for beginners/Stock. I'm sitting on 275/70/R17 Ko2, besides that stock to the bone. As for recovery gear, I picked up ARB weekender pack. It ran me a couple of dollars but Iv done a bit of research and ARB is pretty reliable. Not a bad starter pack either.

You should be okay as long as you’re not in stock tires. Clearance issues if you fall into the ruts but I had an issue too at 2.5” lift and 33s.

Wow! You still had issue with a 2-1/2 inch lift? That’s insane. Well end state is what I want to do. For now I just received the HID, looks clean compared to stock.

Yeah, again, some guys came through with serious rigs and just tore the crap out of some areas. The picture above is one such area. My tires were caked in mud and I slid right into the ruts. “Clunk.” The frame was stuck. My Jeep friend was like, I heard the clunk from around the corner and knew exactly what happened. Haha.

If you’re creative you can avoid the ruts but I really hope they do some maintenance so non-rednecks can get through too. Haha.

Well ended up going with a buddy of mine to Badlands and it was a blast! There was a Jeep club out there running around and not to many others. Got a little muddy but ended up staying for 9-3. I hear Chitown4x4 will be out there witha beginner group. Might see if I can make that trip.

That’s awesome! A friend of mine with a new TRD-OR and I are planning on heading down there later in April. I’ll throw the date out there when we have it locked down in case anyone else wants to go.

I’ve never been to Badlands. Is it worth the drive? Gonna be darn near 3 hours for me.

To be honest I really don't have anything to compare it to since this was my first park/offroading adventure. With that said, It was about 2 hr &40ish min for me and I think it was worth it. It sucks that its an hr ahead due to the time difference but I liked it. I would like to jump in if possible with you guys, the only problem is, I might only be open on April 6-7, 20-21. Once you drop the dates ill see if I can go. They have some Sand areas where I got stuck once ( crawl control got me out lol ) Rock area and some nice hills. There are plenty of areas given they are a 900-acre park.
You are required to have a flag and entrance was 25$ I think.
