Trails in Northern CA

I see all these newer generation Toyotas being mildly built up on forums like here, FB and IG. Any ideas on where these guys might be using them in No. CA? My son is starting to build a 4th gen T4R, so he is not ready for the Rubicon or Fordyce. Need some suggestions on milder trails. My rig is a little more capable and his will get there some day. Thoughts on some of these I have only heard about?

1) Sourgrass Trail

2) Gold Lake Trail

+1 for Hollister, I've never been but I've heard great things. Ton of trails in the Lake Tahoe area from my research. People normally use Alltrails app, I've never used it for wheeling but I use it for hiking all the time.

Did gold lake on 32s, 3" lift and skids. Little contact underneath.
Buddy does sour grass solo, same setup with 35s.

I will have to check that app out.

We are going to check out Sourgrass next weekend, going to camp near there, maybe go check out Deer Valley also?

Pick up the book Guide to California Backroads & 4-Wheel-Drive Trails by Charles A. Wells & Matt Peterson. There are some good trails in there that will point him in the right direction.

So we did Sourgrass trail back in July, stayed at nice campground right next to trail. Tried Deer Valley but it was a little too much for my sons rig, so we pulled out of trail before we got into too much trouble.
