1st Time Good & Stuck

See honey, this is why I need a lift and winch. Being recovered by a GMC is unacceptable.

What tires you running? ..and yes, if you're going to play in the soul sucking orange goo you're gonna need some recovery gear such as a winch.
Our area and much of the South is just orange clay. Growing roses is awesome, they love the stuff.

Yeah, better tires would have got you right out in the middle!

Given the gas prices I switched to street tires last year, yeah I know I wasn’t really intending to wheel anything just bumping down some caliche roads until I saw this pool and thought I could skirt the edge and climb out.

For a daily driver, I can’t do that till the oil companies take their foot off the gas pedal.

trust me, I hear you..recently replaced the factory tires on my '18 with some nittos and have been very happy with them..granted, they aren't agressive enough for that kind of mud, but they do fine in most of the offroading I do in the 4Runner..

I'm envious of anyone who plays that hard, yes, tires, but some people with a lift and MT's don't ever see mud. At least you're doing the damn thing.

I'm in Arkansas Ozarks national forest. We have lots of mud pits and that slippery clay too. I like going solo off roading and have been stuck like that a few times. I just have a heavy duty come along and it hasn't failed me yet.

I have a 5k manual winch/come along and some chains but since I wasn’t planning on getting into the rough stuff I didn’t have any of it with me. Hard lesson learned.

Since I work in construction I often end up on large job sites and get to play a little bit, but having just moved into this neighborhood and finding all these trails around us I expect to get much more trailing going on. There’s an overlanding group in the area too but for now, I like my solo (or at most with my wife) trail runs.

It's hard to tell from the photos...but it looks like there's a area to the right to go through and avoid the little puddle, which is what I would have done not having the correct tires, winch, etc., .....BUT I guess it could of been a case of...."Hey Bubba, hold my beer and watch this!!!"LOL

A winch saves so much time, especially nice if you get stuck often. Also less cumbersome. I've left the come along at home since getting the winch. We're talking a two minute recovery in most cases. Spooling the line back on takes longer than rigging and recovering.

On my list! I don't really care about time though I stay in the forest. If it's not a mud pit, jack and stack rocks never fails. It kind of makes it more of an adrenaline rush also!
