Repair or Replace?
I have a list of modifications I want to do to my 2005 SR5 which includes a new rear bumper, however that is pretty far down the list and approximately 2 years away (due to finances). Unfortunately, during a recent camping trip my current stock rear bumper got squished by a tree on the driver's side corner. I had a reasonable estimate to make it look presentable for $175, but to replace it with a factory bumper would be quite pricey and not anything I'm interested in doing. So the question is:
Would you spend the $175 now for making the bumper look presentable until the upgrade or would you hold off and put the $175 towards the new bumper?

If by a new bumper you mean a used factory style replacement for $200-250 then just save the $.
Somehow i think your referring to a heavy duty steel bumper more like $500-$1000. If thats the case id have your current one repaired since its gonna look like that for the next 2 years.
I see people everyday with damage to their cars and they dont mind. Not like it hinders function or is a safety issue. But personally that would eat at me every time i walked out...so its really just up to you and whatever your willing to live with.

On a truck that new, I would repair it now and get the off road bumper later. On my '97, I don't care about my dents. I actually used the money I got from getting hit to buy a CBI bumper instead of repairing the dent. Now that it's my trail rig, when I bang the body or sratch the paint, I just care less and less each time and it makes it a lot more fun not worrying about it on the trails. If it was my DD, it would bug me.

I'd leave it as is. An aftermarket rear bumper for a 4th gen is gonna be much more than $1k. Double that and you're in the market.

If you're wanting a better aftermarket bumper of some sort, obviously hold off.

I'm still on the fence on the whole thing.... I'd like to just hold off, but in the humidity the paint that was cracked is just peeling away. I've made an appointment to have it 'touched up' for the $175 as well as doing the 4WD fluids ($79). This way I can wait the 2 years on getting the rear bumper.. The bumper I want is $2250!!! so the $175 I'm spending on it to 'look pretty' won't even put a dent in the total cost of the rear bumper. I am placing an order on Monday for a front bumper though! I'm pretty excited about it!

I dropped it off this morning! They are also changing the 4WD Fluids, tinting the front windows and hopefully replacing the old weather stripping! Can't wait to get it back to see how it looks!
Also ordering a front bumper from Shrockworks today - yay!

Yikes! Think they quoted us 10 weeks... I'm hoping sooner because we're doing a suspension upgrade in October, and we are kind of depending on the bumper to get here shortly after...
EDIT:
Just placed the order - 12 weeks...
