MIT soon to be offering free online classes for *any subject! (link inside)
As I understand it, MIT has launched a program that allows anyone on the WWW to view and learn selected course material for free and without registration.
Right now you can access thousands of courses online and download the full class material including notes, reading materials, final exams and solutions, labs and more. This even applies to advanced engineering classes. Scroll down!
See this NYT article:
NYTimes: M.I.T. Expands Its Free Online Courses
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/19/ed...me&ref=general
Quote:
While students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology pay thousands of dollars for courses, the university will announce a new program on Monday allowing anyone anywhere to take M.I.T. courses online free of charge — and for the first time earn official certificates for demonstrating mastery of the subjects taught.

“There are many people who would love to augment their education by having access to M.I.T. content, people who are very capable to earn a certificate from M.I.T.,” said L. Rafael Reif, the provost, in a conference call with reporters Friday.
M.I.T. led the way to an era of online learning 10 years ago by posting course materials from almost all its classes. Its free OpenCourseWare now includes nearly 2,100 courses and has been used by more than 100 million people.
But the new “M.I.T.x” interactive online learning platform will go further, giving students access to online laboratories, self-assessments and student-to-student discussions.
Mr. Reif and Anant Agarwal, director of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab, said M.I.T.x would start this spring — perhaps with just one course — but would expand to include many more courses, as OpenCourseWare has done.
“The technologies available are much more advanced than when we started OpenCourseWare,” Mr. Agarwal said. “We can provide pedagogical tools to self-assess, self-pace or create an online learning community.”
The M.I.T.x classes, he said, will have online discussions and forums where students can ask questions and, often, have them answered by others in the class.
While access to the software will be free, there will most likely be an “affordable” charge, not yet determined, for a credential.
“I think for someone to feel they’re earning something, they ought to pay something, but the point is to make it extremely affordable,” Mr. Reif said. “The most important thing is that it’ll be a certificate that will clearly state that a body sanctioned by M.I.T. says you have gained mastery.”

OpenCourseWare
The old system is called OpenCourseWare and it will soon be replaced by an even more robust system, hence the article but even the old system is awesome! How come I didn't know about this?
I have linked the classes for Computer Science and electrical engineering. On several of the classes you can download the textbook, lecture notes, reading assignments, homework, labs, quizzes, finals and solutions for each.

No sir, not the only one.
Just that I'm in other classes right now, but I assure you once they end, I'll be on this like a spider monkey.

Sweet deal for MIT kids, now there lectures are online, although different years, material learned is generally the same.
I'll definetley look through this, im more open to learning when it isnt forced down my throat.

Wow. That's really cool. Definitely going to look into this when I have some more free time. Thanks for the info!

Depends. If you take a course or two, then it might not be important enough to include, but if you have taken a series of courses that would normally lead to a certificate, then that should be included.

You are speaking to a bot.
I've used MIT courseware. Good stuff. I can recommend Udemy for more specific topics in technology like AWS or blockchain. I think putting courseware on a resume would have potential employers laughing in your face. The value of school is unfortunately in the magic paper you pay for. Certs are a different story and can be included.

It's a good thing I graduated from college a long time ago and I've already forgotten what courses are, etc. I work in a factory and that's enough for me.
