I just paused the video at 46 seconds and don't even want to finish it.

I guess I will but why do parents air their dirty laundry on the internet ... what kind of standard does that set?

I don't think there is any reason a parent should ever make and release a public video about their son / daughter.

LOL, I sympathize with the Dad on this one

I am still against this type of (public) parenting. In genereal it pretty much makes me not want to have kids.

I think most kids are spoiled these days and have it way too easy.

He could have just given the laptop away instead but then he probably wouldn't get as many youTube hits.

I love it!! Good job to the Dad!! Kids have it too easy these days...bunch of spoiled brats! Kids going to the net to blah blah blah about parents...well, payback is a b!tch!

And no, brian, if you won't care to discipline your kids, then don't have kids!

I got bored half way through and closed it. But from what I did watch, she needs to understand that her doing chores is how she pays rent. Otherwise why should they let here live at home?

Payback for what the daughter did! She aired the dirty laundry on FB...and told lies about being a slave and insulted others. This is her 2nd offense of the same crime! You want to give her a time-out Brian??!!

It might be easy to mistake my words in that post. I don't think he was too tough, I just meant that families should disipline their kids in private. Making the video seems to me to be taking it down to her level.

I am not against tough treatment. I wouldn't give a HS student a laptop anyways or a phone or a car or an iPad. Yes kids are spoiled and many parents are blind to it.

This forum is full of spoiled kids, not you Thai obvisously, but you must know what I mean. Every other week some kid wrecks the 4Runner that their parents gave them and then a month later we see that daddy bought them a daddy 5th gen.

I do think that parents should support their kids but when I see a 10 yr old with an ipad or macbook pro yes I think that kids will grow up spoiled. I do support parents funding the kids through colleg ect but some of the things kids complain about are outragious.

Ahh, i see your points Brian. I agree. But, I would give my kids (when old enough) a flip phone for use in emergency...but certainly no smartphone. I already save up my old Sanyo flip phone (SCP-7050) for my kids.

Maybe this Dad should have spent a little more time and guidance earlier in his daughter's life so that she looked at her life in a better way. I agree with his opinion but there was no need to make this private matter public. And, he certainly didn't need to 45 the laptop! I think this guy needs guidance as much as his daughter!

Koz, you must've missed the part where the daughter posted this on her facebook page, thereby making it public in the first place. The father used that vehicle to prove his "fatherdom" and to hopefully teach a lesson. I support his decision to use the avenue she used as well as KO-ing her prized laptop, however I would have sold that SOB instead (and used the money for more guns or ammo).

His daughter is 15 years old. He is the adult! This matter needed to be private and making it public will most likely make it harder to correct. It may even make things worse.

As always, the devil is in the details, but one thing was unambiguous. The bizarre way he decided to dispose of the laptop.

I'm saving my vote for parent of the year.

Their problems probably should stay private, but in the digital world of FB and Twitter that just ins't realistic. Just one more reason I hate that type of social media. My business is just that, mine! And, I'm not about to go broadcasting it online for everyone to see. The problem gets even bigger when you're dealing with over dramatic teenagers that are spoiled lazy. Granted, cell phones and laptops were not really around when I was a teenager, but I didn't have a car either until I could afford one.

That guy seemed pretty pissed about the $130 he spent on software, then he puts 9 rounds into a computer he probably bought her in the first place. Oh, well, its his money, he can do with it what he wants.

Brian, I completely get what you are saying about spoiled kids. That is a big pet peeve of mine on sites like this. There are hard working adults that have real bills, like a mortgage and some unemployed, spoiled 19-20 y/o kid shows up with a $40K 5th Gen, & thousands of dollars of mods and it just makes you sick.

One thing every parent needs to accept once they have kids is that at some point their kids are going to hate them. Whether they are parent of the year material or not, their kids are going to go through a rough patch and blame their parents for their problems. Usually, it is around the age that his daughter is, but all the same, it happens. Some parents are equipped to handle that part of their children's lives, and deal with it, others make silly videos and put 9 rounds into the kid's laptop. Did you hear about the father that found naked pics of his daughter on her phone so he sent them to all of her contacts in the phone. A different type of discipline, but he probably thought that would "teach her a lesson" too. I guess it really does take all kinds, even if it is just to make this world more entertaining for the rest of us...

The whole concept of 'teaching someone a lesson' is flawed. Never works as intended.
Can get you killed if you over do it.
