I ended up getting my exhaust fixed. Didn't really feel like dropping the coin on a full exhaust, so they just spliced in a flex pipe and a new pipe up to the muffler. With my savings, I'm getting some man-a-fre skids. They are cheaper than getting new factory skids and way beefier . I called a bunch of junkyards and noone has any 4runners.

Good to hear you got it fixed up. No doubt you couldn't find any Runners in the bone yard it's a Toyota they last forever

I had to Google Man-a-Fre skids as I'd never heard of them before They look nice and are made from 3/16 steel plate and powder coated all for a good price! Do you also get the black splash pan that covers the gap between the bumper and radiator support?

No, it pretty much covers the same amount as the factory front and rear skids. It looks like it bolts up to the bottom of the rad suppt. I also need a new oil pan, which I'll put in when I get the skids. toyotapartsoutlet ftw! They saved me like $20 over list price.

You kept your factory muffler?

And I'm sorry this trip has cost you so much! Just get a lift and skids and you'll be good to go!

The oil pan was only like $45. When I do my next oil change, I'll just pull the skids and swap the pan. Shouldn't be too bad. And yes, a lift is definitely in order.

Speaking of exhaust:

Went to the local muffler joint today and had them take a look at what I wanted to do which is 3" stainless cat back with the Magnaflow 12589. Had the "custom guy" put it up on the lift to have a look and get some input, he felt that where the diameter of the Y pipe was already small (approx 2 1/4" that I wouldn't gain much going to 3" from the cat back. His suggestion was going to headers with 3" back from there or just swapping out the muffler with the Magnaflow 12586. As I already have the 12586 I'm going to have that installed tomorrow then I'll install the aFe intake I have.

Hopefully this will add a little growl to it

Ouch! You crunched your oil pan too? Where were the spotters? Oh ya it was raining.

Well that's not too bad!

As far as the lift; go the bilstein route. It performs amazingly in my opinion

I'd stay at 2.5" piping. At least that's what is stock on 4th gens. Where as your 5th gen has girly little exhaust tubing...

The intake will make it sound insane! The magnaflow even better!! Get a res delete.
