Thought some folks would think this was interesting..
Yesterday I competed in the Columbus Ohio round of a national cooking competition sponsored by Brooklyn Brewery called "The Food Experiments." The theme has been different in each city 13 cities they are hosting it, and for Columbus it was "Smoke."
I had randomly heard about this competition just five days prior and entered as soon as I read about it. You had to make 300 bites with the emphasis on smoke/grill/summer.
I entered with an Ohio pork I applewood smoked and then braised in Brooklyn Brown Ale with seasonings and spices. It was served atop a hand fried tortilla crisp, drizzled with a charred pineapple habanero hot sauce and then topped with a peach-o de gallo.
Anyways, I WON IT! Now Brooklyn Brewery is flying my wife and I to Brooklyn in December to compete in the National Finals!
