24hour fitness just sent a nice offer for when they reopen.

1. 90-DAY GIFT OF FITNESS, a 90-day All-Club membership to give to a friend or family member
OR
2. ONE-YEAR BUDDY PASS, which allows you to bring a guest with you each time you work out for one year

I pre-pay for my membership through Costco since its half the cost. they extended membership 75 days. getting an extension and free buddy pass is nice

A few weeks ago I purchased a power rack with the barbell and dumbbells to train at home.
You spend 3-4 hours at the gym each time you go?
What kind of program are you running that takes that much time?

The kind where you browse IG after every set.

And don't forget to shoot the shit with everyone in the gym after each set too.

I looked into CrossFit but it wasn't for me. My boot camp included some classic olympic style lifts like CF mixed with more of the conditioning/HIIT activities which I was looking for. Whatever works for you and you enjoy - keep doing!

After a couple of years I got tired of paying the fees and built my own home gym where me and the missus workout. We still follow much of the activities that we did at the bootcamp, but got bored with creating our own workouts and recently started a program on athlean-x.

So far I'm really impressed. If you haven't checked out any of the athlean-x vids on YouTube I highly recommend it. He understands bio-mechanics better than anyone I've ever run across and his program includes a nutrition plan which we love - as it makes mealtime so much easier.

I don't carry the mass I use to, but I'm ok with that as I'm much leaner and more athletic than before. I no longer care about what I'm able to lift in terms of a max rep and feel better overall - which is all that matters.

Cool to see so many people in this thread making gains and achieving their goals!!
I'm with you on the boot camp training. I was doing one for a while at the local Y (on top of lifting and trail running) and it was fantastic. Never been in better shape. They quit the program though and went to something more like tabatta, and I didn't really care for it as much, so I stopped. If the same guy started it back up, I'd be there in a heartbeat

Just wanted to share, that I've been dieting and working out since May. I have lost 60 lbs since and got my diabetes under control with no medicine. Even though I cheat once in awhile, I still have the drive and motivation to keep exercising and eating right. I'm hoping I can finally keep this lifestyle from now on.

Back from a morning walk in 43F temps. when I lost 95 lbs, I was happy. New suit and jackets. Got back in shape gentle with 15-, 20-lb hex-bells and took my 38 chest to 39. So much for those clothes that fit.(shipped most to my Niece's son). Keeping my glucose under 6 A1c and working on a LCHF diet. It's keeping to one glass of red wine is the problem.

that Levothyroxine for my thyroid? I have a closet of 34" trousers and I now measure 37" waist. I have not changed my diet or anything. Doctor does not believe it is the meds, stopped it anyway. Lab tomorrow to see.

Actually I am on a diabetic diet, mainly low carb. Last Labs was great. Lower glucose, A1C, Triglycerides, and cholesterol. this is all new with the thyroid stuff.

I'm wondering if this is real but I feel like typing so...

If you want to lose weight, you need to be in a calorie deficit. End of story. Supplements are just that, to supplement a solid diet. Unless your doctor tells you you NEED to supplement for some sort of deficiency or something than most likely you don't need any supplements and they aren't going to make you lose weight faster or easier.

for those of you stuck at home without access to a gym, space, or much equipment, pick up a jump rope and ab wheel. you can put some serious work in with a jump rope, ab wheel and pushups as a bare bones exercise routine. add in some shadow boxing if you feel like it too

IMO the jump rope is the #1 exercise to do for overall fitness (cardio, endurance, even shoulder/leg development) and it is not easy to be a skilled jump roper

It seems like a lot of people are turning to boxing as a way to get exercise during corona. it's relatively cheap vs. a full out equipment assortment you get in commercial gyms and is excellent for overall fitness. A lot of folks don't know where to start with equipment or brands, etc. I have pretty much a full boxing gym in my basement (minus the actual ring) with a section for weight training - if you fall into this category and have questions I will do my best to provide answers. started building my own gym after I got lasik in 2019 since it wasn't worth it to be a member at a club (can't get hit in the face for a while after lasik) and when corona hit it was a life saver. gyms here are still closed
