Funny you should mention that, I just got back from sportsmans warehouse, had to get a little hands on and check out the EOtech and they also had the aim point pro, and I like it!
I think I just might go that route, but maybe the m4, I really like that it takes AA batteries, I try and get things in either AA or AAA
I'm i big fan of leupold, local company for me and I'm tempted to grab the mark 4 hamr but good lord 1500 just might be too much. I can justify about a grand anything more then that and the warden starts to give me bad looks!! And we all know what that means

If you're interested in magnification look into the ACOG TA31F. No batteries and they are bomb proof as well.

Lol, no I agree! Besides my 4runner, I do try and buy American made when the option is available.
I think that's what makes the EOTech so appealing to me is, on platforms other then the 512 they have the flip-away magnifier, so one could effectively go from a longer range to an upfront interface by flipping the unit to the side. Yes it's a novelty, I mean unless the Russians take over and a "red dawn" goes down in my hometown I will never need the dual function of the flip away scope.
So what will my M4 be used for?
Mainly target practice, going to the range, relieving the tension of everyday life that only Sex and shooting guns can provide. And I'm pretty sure if I spend more then 1,000 then one of those stress relievers will close up for a while and I better buy lots of ammo!
So maybe, a nice scope for long range target practice, and a holographic interface for SHTF scenario?
Is there any negative aspects of switching between the two? Will I have to zero in either one after I remove and re-install said scope
Once again thank you for the replies, the opinions of more informed members is always appreciated.

a single variable optic with illuminated reticle and switchview throw lever would fill that role nicely...
Vortex 1-6
Leupold 1.5-5
SWFA 1-6
Bushnell
Nikon

I have a Vortex Viper 4-16x 44mm MRAD scope on quick release mounts for target shooting and an EOTech XPS2-0 circle and dot holographic for SHTF situations.
I have never had to significantly adjust the scope when I switch between it and the holographic sights.

I think I already know what answer I will get from this post, but here goes anyway.
I have a lower already with a TacSol .22 upper, bought this several years ago and haven't bought a 5.56/.223 upper yet for it. I also would like to have an AK47.
So buy an upper, doesn't have to be a super high price one.
or
Buy an AK47
I will get both eventually, but which would you buy now?

Thanks again hrt4me, landcruiser, and jbecker for all your input
So today I decided to go with the leupold hamr4 it seems to me to be the best of both worlds, medium range magnification and delta point ontop. Unfortunatly it's 1500 so I will be saving to get it. One major problem is I just come across a armalite ar-10 for a reasonable price, soooooo...... New gun or new scope????
New gun!!!!!!! Yes, always new gun will prevail, we are one crisis away from prices going sky high again, so I think it best to get all my toys before it gets worse.
I will keep you posted and maybe some pics to come

Leland Yee
I called his office and emailed him, told his minions I hope Leroy tears his ass hard for all his anti gun laws here in California. He has given some ugly anti gun laws laws here.
Karma is a *****.

The prices are probably as low as they're going to be. I bought a second colt 6940 for 1200 bucks. The SAME RIFLE was selling for close to 2 grand around this time last year--more if you were buying it from gougers.
What I would do is get some spare parts, small parts, and maybe even a stripped lower so that if they outlaw them again, you have the means to rebuild it.
What I am concerned about is fascist governors making a mandatory AR registry and/or going door to door to confiscate them.

The fact that anti-second amendment Democrat Leland Yee is a lying, corrupt, anti-American, hypocritical POS, is really no surprise.
With any luck he'll drop a dime on his fellow corrupt politicians, and they'll all decide to do the honorable thing..

When I read this, I was both parts disappointed and outraged. These pieces of garbage are making our gun laws.
