For Christmas this year, I'm building him his first AR. He's been inquiring about getting one all year, but with a baby on the way, I told him he shouldn't spend the cash. Especially with his family being on his military salary only right now. This is an 80% copy of my comp rifle, which I hope he cherishes. The lower will be back tomorrow so I can get it wrapped up.
Anderson lower w/ basic lpk and buffer set up
Magpul stock
Aero upper/Aim NiB bcg/BCM Mod4 CH/Ballistic Advantage 16" barrel/15" Midwest Industris handguard/YHM muzzle device and gas block/Magpul BUIS

Actually now that it's cold out, I should really pick up an OWB holster for it. I'm sure that would be helpful. Currently use an AG cloak tuck 3.

Have you tried appendix carry? I switched over a couple of years ago and I carry a stock Glock 19 with Defoor sights in a kydex AIWB rig.
Oh yeah, and I'm 145lbs, 5'6", with a 30" waist. I cannot make a G19 disappear at the standard 4 o'clock position, but carried at appendix I run around with a fitted polo shirt no sweat. The weight distribution is infinitely better too since all the pull is evenly on the belt, not pulling to one side. A quality gun belt is necessary too though.
I recommend Zorn holsters and any good belt (Wilderness, Galco, etc.).
Get the proper appendix setup for that Shield and you'll forget it's there. I sometimes carry my wife's G43 in a kydex AIWB rig and it's tough to remember it's there.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm roughly the same size as you, wear the same size pants, but I'm not convinced I could pull it off. I would assume it's the way I'm shaped, as well as how my pants sit, but it doesn't seem possible. I was looking into it after reading your post earlier, I just forgot to respond.
Using an Alien Gear cloak tuck 3.

For skinny/smaller dudes AIWB is usually the best bet. Try one out and see if it works for you. Most folks think it won't and it ends up being the proper solution most of the time.
Here's one of the ones I have that I like the most:
http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/Pr...Appendix-Carry
If you're convinced it isn't, try something like a Crossbreed Freedom Carry holster. It's about 1/2 the size of that Alien Gear Cloak 3 and conceals a shield very well and very comfortably.
https://www.crossbreedholsters.com/P.../Freedom-Carry
That's my go-to for my shield carry holster, wear it for 16+ hours a day at times and it is very comfortable, nice to take it off at the end of the day, but it isn't bad at all.
Sometimes you've got to find the right clothes that fit your carry plans.
I'm 6'1" 225 so I can carry just about anything anytime of the year without printing or ever being too uncomfortable. But I do have to make the correct garment choices in certain weather/situations/holsters/firearms.
Looks like you're rocking a Magpul/Tejas gun belt- correct? Nice piece of kit, I love the ones I have.

Just renewing my US law shield legal defense program and wondered how many here know of and use US law shield or Texas law shield or any of the other firms?
Figured I'd post so that those who've never heard of it can take a look and see if they are interested.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. The belt is also from Alien Gear, but now I'm looking at the Magpul site, haha.

My Beretta on the left, and my fiancee's Glock on the right. Both are our carry pistols.

Ruger SR9??????
So I will be getting one as a gift. I have only shot it a few times but has anyone put some serious amounts of rounds through one? Give me the good the bad and the ugly on it. Also how you are wearing it would help also.

Firearm companion
Lately the carry knife I use most is a lower end Spyderco folder. Very nice knife and don't worry about beating it up a bit. A couple years ago was in our shop at work and my superintendent pulled out one of these. Microtech Ultratech, auto open-close. Within a week I bought two, one for nephews birthday and one for me. At the time he lived in New York City, he got a kick out of that when I shipped it to him. Extremely well made and the cool factor is off the charts.
A little pricey but you get what you pay for.
