Isn't that what everyone is doing? You cannot really talk about taxes without bringing politics into it. Yes, taxes are excessive right now and they will be for a long time. Who knows when they will be down to a reasonable level, or if they ever will be.

Seeing more than one person use the term "Obamasexual" I was compelled to look it up. At first, I figured it was just another one of Thai's phobia-phrases.
Obamasexual
"A white person who shows overzealous support of african-americans based on pity, making them, in fact quite racist.
Can also denote any person with an unmerited sense of respect or approval, typically of the african persuasion."
Carry on with the progressive conversation, Jeds.

I'm not equating the two, and absolutely didn't expect you to see the irony of it anyways.
Just pointing out the misguided philosophy of those who use these types of events for political gain, and it happens with both the left and right.
And strangely my remarks made to affirmation about gun control preventing the event, it's your itchy trigger finger conservatism assuming, pun intended.

nice i was thinking that was going to be the end of the thread, also why don;t we just make an official rant and political argument thread and sticky it with warnings of petty arguments and what might be offensive opinions? might be better than chasing down 4~5 threads at any given time to make sure everyone is being civil...it might cut down on the mod work and keep the stupidity confined to a single spot....could even call it the thai and ndecnt dichotomy.....

Yeah the higher taxes suck. I'm a 20 year old college student, working in a factory while I go to school. I lose $3-5 a shift now depending how many hours I work a week. This is just sad. So much for protecting the middle class. I never thought Romney was the answer but I knew he'd be better than Obama with the taxes and the economy (obviously). A bigger b!tchslap? The taxes went up while Obama was relaxing on a beach in Hawaii. This whole thing makes me sick. But we're already going to be paying off the debt for the rest of our lives...and my future kids' lives, and grandkids, etc...

NJShadow, You are clearly confused about what actually happened
.....
Quote:
All that happened is now for incomes under $400k /year the temporary Social Security & Medicare tax break expired. This means the 2 or 3% extra out of your paycheck (vs last month) will continue to fund Social-security. It is simply returning to 2011 levels.
The only people who should really be outraged about this change (back) are those who don't want social security to exist.

Not confused at all actually. I know the tax cuts have only been extended through 2012 ( election year, how convenient), and that my money is being thrown away because my generation won't be seeing any of that social security money.

+1 Yep, these 'expired' cuts, which are increases, won't do me or my family a bit of good seeing that SS will not be around for my retirement. Give me my 2% back and I'll put it in a 401(k).
I guess if the politicians can't curb their spending, they will let us do the dirty work of cutting our own spending.

Then you understand that the president has nothing to do with spending money, making budgets or collecting taxes, right?

That's all speculation since it sure things seem to change when they all get into office. No guarantee.

Of course. I thought this last election was rough either way. I just felt Romney's business experience and success made him more qualified to handle the economy. At least I hoped so anyway. After the last four years I was just hoping things would change but we're all just going to have to wait and see. I just hate the idea of being halfway through college, preparing to start a career, and have this enormous national debt and some unnecessary (IMO) taxes to deal with. It is what it is.

You mean...like OBAMA!! Lets face it, Obama may very well be our worst BS President in a long time!
As for Romney...his record speaks for itself. He isn't the conservative choice simply because he has reached across the isle to get things done...THAT is what is needed now, not more class warfare and Congress bickering. Did Obama do much compromising with the fiscal cliff about to slam Americans? Nope.
Although you had no clue of this RonM, but Obama could not get anything done other than passing his prized Obamacare in his first two years of presidency when he had BOTH House and Senate! Nothing. And look where Obamacare has taken us?
