Well after much research on the different brands, it came down to the Tri-Tronics and DogTra.
This is what won out. I like that the DogTra offers more control. I don't have to zap him I can just make it vibrate or just do a little zap, and not just have to even give a full second burst. This was a good find on flea bay. Two for the price of one that only dose 1/2 mile. So now I'll have one for my other dog also.
The introduction with them for everyone else is not working. He still has that high prey drive and will not "Recall". I have to throw a rock at him to get his attention before he will "Recall/Leave it". He is just doing what comes natural but we can't be killing our friends that live on the property also.
I'll keep you all posted on the progress.

Our tri has a beep to recall the dog back to you. I'm pretty sure.

They do "Beep". The issue I have with that is with multiple dogs they will all here the "Beep". I like that idea of a vibration over the beep.
They are both top quality products. I didn't know they would not be that easy to find. I called Bass Pro in So-Cal and they were out of the collars.

Look what Brown did for Buddy today. He is excited about this thing. Put it on to test it out. Very Low settings and used the Page and Nick he looked around like "What was that thing, where is it". He sat down though on the spot.
This will do the trick I'm sure.

Those things are great! Used one to train my heeler/cattle dog never had to put it up past the 20% mark on the controller. I get compliments on how behaved she is (until I say "ok, go say hi")

I tried it on myself at 20% also and I jumped and pulled my hand off. Like touching an electric fence and that is at 20%. Still got 100% extra. You can train a bull with it I swear.

Settings being different for different hardware, we have to use max on our dogs or else they dont respond(when going hell bent after deer and elk); I wouldnt use anything on them that I wouldnt try myself, so I gave it a try. been shocked with a cattle prod once(accident) and it felt about the same. one hell of a jolt, but no lasting pain at all. probably makes our dogs think we wield the power of zeus though
