I am in the minority of this thread (don't vape or smoke), but just curious, has anyone looked into what is actually in the liquid that is being vaped? I have heard good and bad, but like anything these days easier to find the bias than the truth.

Vaping is far from safe. Might not be as bad as ciggies or chaw, but it has health risks, nasty ones.
There is very little research into the effects as yet. Especially long term hazards.
Do as you wish, Im not one to tell people what to do or not to do- but please don’t believe that it’s “not harmful” as the OP posited.
Vape has health risks, many are just being found out, do your research.
Due diligence folks.
Also, I’d like to add that people who walk around bellowing huge soupy clouds of vape juice all around them in public are total douches.

Did I mention I love it? The negatives are just too great .... your endurance sucks, your clothes stink .... YOU stink ..... it's expensive..... it just started piling up and eventually I decided I'd rather be smoke free. I quit. No gimmicks... just quit.

I've never smoked a single cig or anything in my life, but grew up in a family where everyone smoked. I just never had the desire to try it for the reasons you stated (it just smells bad and makes everything around you smell bad). Plus, I guess between the family of smokers (in the car, in the house), and them operating a bowling alley to boot, I got more than my fill of it 2nd hand.
That said, I'm curious what it is about smoking that you love so much? My Mom died from lung cancer after being a long time chain smoker. When she had to quit after having part of her right lung removed, she made that same comment about just loving to smoke, but I didn't think to ask her about it at the time. I just don't understand the attraction to the actusl act of smoking. The nicotine addiction I can understand.
I will say two things about vaping;
1) My brother switched to vaping because cigarettes were making him feel like crap. Headaches (from sinus irritation), his chest always felt congested, etc... That cleared up when he started vaping. He likes that it is cheaper, and he can control the nicotine content.
2) As a non-smoker, I appreciate the vapes. With cigs, one person lights up and everyone in the room/area is affected by it (and leaves smelling like it). With the vapers, it's just a quick little cloud that rapidly dissipates. Often, if you do smell it, it's something sweet and much more pleasant than burning leaves/paper. And the odor doesn't cling to everyone around.

When I vaped I made my own e juice. I bought my flavors from reputable makers, pg, vg and nicotine and wire to make coils. I have a freezer full of 100 mg/ml nicotine and no longer vape. I also have all my equipment.
If you make your own e juice you know what's in it. The flavor companies have gotten good about removing bad chemicals but you need to know what's bad. Some didn't list their ingredients. Many stayed away from them but others didn't care. I cared and stayed away from those but I did use some in low percentages. If you wanted certain flavors you had no choice.
Maybe not what you were asking but that's my take. I really did enjoy it but it became a hassle since it was a hobby and my nicotine level was almost nothing.

Not to hijack but vaping is much safer than legalizing marijuana. That will and is becoming a public health issue.

Both have medical/health consequences. MJ has more testing and “knowns” at this time, vaping is a big Easter egg currently.
Both have larger societal impacts as well.
I’m against prohibition of any sort.
I’m also against giving my hard earned money to support in any way or to treat addicts of any flavor for their ailments and poor life choices.
You have users and problems to deal with regardless of prohibiting something. Many, MANY studies have shown prohibiting things leads to more problems every time- societal, financial and health problems.
People are the problem, not drugs or vape or guns or whatever inanimate object you want to talk about.

I don't have personal experience but pretty much my whole office and my best man smokes or used to smoke.
1. They honestly said they started to smoke because everyone around them did at one point.
2. Most said it was the nicotine addiction that was hardest to kick. They smoked so much they had withdrawals when trying to quit.
Most switched to vaping to try and quote and slowly reduced the nicotine in their liquid until they were able to quit. Much more effective then the patch according to them.
Now the kids that vape just to be "cool" are idiots.

yes that is true for the majority of juice out there. the convenience store brands are basically anti-freeze. I pay a premium for my juice and the vape is made all from vegetables and the flavor is all from fruit. I do not do nicotine, however theirs is synthetic and much better for you than the natural stuff (so I am told)

Just read where the FDA is considering banning the sale of vaping products, because of the high rates of vape use by teens. Apparently, much higher than smoking.

How when last I checked they don't even have all their own regulations in place?
I could be wrong.

Don’t know, don’t really follow it, other than that article, maybe their version of regulating it is prohibiting it?
Reading the thread all the way through, I see where posters have said they vape but don’t do nicotine. Someone help me out, but isn’t the whole purpose of vaping to inhale nicotine without inhaling smoke into your lungs?
Regarding marijuana, I could care less what people do privately, especially if I don’t have to pay for their problems caused by poor choices. In my state, where pot is legal for home use by adults, it’s not uncommon to smell it at public parks. Last summer, four homeless men were sitting in the parking lot of a major park smoking away while little kids walked around, right next to the bath house. It’s not uncommon to see people smoking pot while driving. The police don’t care because I order to get pot legalized, the tax money on it goes mostly to the police.
And lastly, in my working career I met many people who were so stoned on high grade pot all the time, guess what, they couldn’t work. Your tax dollars at work.

Vaping without Nicotine is like drinking non alcoholic beer.
Just my opinion.
