Thread Disappeared
Hey guys a couple months ago I posted up a thread in the classified section for a set of wheels I had. A couple days ago I went to go find that thread because I need to get some information off it that someone posted and now the whole thread is gone. All my other classified threads come up but no the one I am looking for. I pmed a moderator on here a couple days ago but they never responded. Do any of you know how I can possibly find that thread again? Thanks

Thread Disappeared
That thread is probably long gone. T4R mods just delete threads that don't meet the basic classified thread material. Like the title in the correct order, and FS: and stuff like that. Get in the habit of saving all your ads somewhere else

I looked back through to last November and couldn't find your post.
Posts in the Classified sections aren't removed for petty reasons such as those listed above.
And while looking, I noticed that some members continually disregard the guidelines.

in my opinion, they shouldnt be moved/deleted at all, without the OP at least having a chance to make the necessary changes. as a mod, if you have the time to do that, you have the time to send a short message to them about the situation. if not then it can wait until you do. its not the end of the world.
also, can we even edit titles? ive never tried, but im thinking not.

No, this isn't elementary school, the people here are adults (supposedly) and as such are expect to read and follow the rules.
One of the biggest complaints here is about Classifies posts.

perhaps, but if they aren't given a chance to fix a problem, who is acting like an adult?
there are much better ways to deal with situations then what happens around here. I see this exact issue come up a LOT on here. seems a very minor common courtesy would alleviate a lot of problems.

At any given time go through the classifieds section and find less than 10 threads that are messed up and I'll buy you a beer. I bet that won't happen. So you can imagine how much time it will take if we either sent pm's or fixed every thread.
There are several times when we get a pm asking us to fix or edit something. We do it gladly because the op is doing the right thing.

ok, but what does it hurt when they are messed up?
just deleting them will NEVER fix the problem. taking the time to contact the people WILL at least give them a chance to fix the problem, and inform them that there IS a problem. even if you include a copy of the rules they are breaking. most people have NO IDEA they aren't doing it right.
if you don't tell them its wrong, they wont know.
I have dealt with this exact problem on another forum, where Im a mod. so I know EXACTLY what you are dealing with. that's why I also know there are better ways to deal with it.

My thread followed the rules. If they are going to delete threads why not delete really old ones instead of a recent one.

I agree with you, but whats the point of having internet power if you can not use it as you please....
My for sale ad was deleted by a mod a few weeks ago for not putting "FS:" in the title.... It was my mistake, but it sure would have been nice to be able to make the simple change than to start over.
So in short...if you show sign of being human and make a mistake in an ad, they will smite you, and you will return to your people shamed and alone. you may beg for their mercy, but they cannot hear mortal words, just be silent and take your well deserved wrath...
FWIW, al the mods are not like that, and this forum is better than a couple more I am on. But there are mods out the glow with the power, just like there are users who stink of incompetence..

I had the exact same thing happen to me a little over a month ago. I didn't put "FS" in the title and it was deleted. Which ever mod deleted it didn't give me a warning, or even let me know. Looked on the site before Christmas and it was there. Looked on the site after Christmas and it was gone. I'd be nice to simply let people know rather than deleting a thread for not having "FS" in the title, especially if you spell out "FS" (for sale) like I did.

I don't get why you would have to put FS in the title if its under the FOR SALE section? That doesn't make any sense.

Most likely rules put in place to help weed out spammers.
