If it wasn't a 4Runner...

... what would you wheel? (for whatever your value of "wheeling" is)

I've got a couple trucks I'd like to build. Top of my list is probably an FJ60 - LS or 2UZ swap, convert to links and trim for 35s, lock it up and let it eat. I'd also like to build a go-fast project. Likely a Tacoma, but I owned an '00 Explorer once and I have a strong urge to get another one, springover the rear and convert the front to long travel with some damned nice shocks all around, and go huck some dunes. I've got other trucks rattling around the back of my head - an SASd Rodeo or Pathfinder, or a Montero all blinged out with expedition gear, a completely stock and completely restored EB, maybe an 80s bricknose F150 with a tubed bed and D60s front and rear, I could go on.

What's on your list? If you totalled your truck tomorrow and God came down and said "no more 4Runners for you!", what would be next?

That's easy.... a brand new Tacoma with a camper! I might choose an FJ60 though... been in love with them for a while. It would probably take an LS swapped FJ60 to beat out the Tacoma though... lol

Tacoma, FJ60, T100 I also like Nissan frontiers and Titans oh and I love the Tundras. Hell I just like Jap 4x4's

Just as long as it's not a Jeep.

Probably still in a first gen Taco. I sold mine for a Runner. Needed more passenger space. So, probably a 4-door short bed. Would have to just get used to the short bed.

Tough question... So many good choices. I'd have to say a '96-'04 Tacoma with a Camburg system w/Fox resv. shox up front, a 4.7 x-case gear, ARB lockers F&R, and AllPro bumpers n sliders. Best of both worlds! Crawl along or high speed rallying. I also want to build a '87-'91 F-350 regular cab. I miss my '89 F-250... :hurt:

This

I saw this earlier today, this thing is flipping AWESOME!

Old school FJ40 for me! Guy down the street from me has a '74 sitting on 37's but won't wheel it. He even armorall's the tires. Breaks my heart everytime I see it!!!

Built up FJ40, SAS'd Taco, Ultra 4 Buggy, Trophy Truck, probably an LT'd Taco since they are insanely sexy too... Unimog maybe... I have a long list I can't fully remember, I easily plan to have like 10 vehicles before I get married to occupy me for the rest of my life

I'd tell God he better get back on his perch or there would be trouble brewing.

Probably just keeping my Ford Bronco and Bronco ii around for such. But they can't hold my 3rd gen's jock, so I'd be in trouble. Maybe 1st gen Tacoma TRD 4cyl 5spd 4x4 with a non cracked head and manifold.

I wheel the 4-Runner on light to moderate terrain; for the more serious stuff I bring out my FJ:

This is what they should have put under the FJ. Then it really would have been the retro throwback, Jeep fighter that it was intended to be.

Not that it would be an optimal vehicle for wheeling on the trails, but i do want to build a '70s ford highboy.
