How To Move In 17 Not So Easy Steps

I finally did it, I moved with the help of my 4Runners from Acworth, Georgia to Englewood, Florida. I moved with the help of a trailer and lots of lifting and oh yes, 2 years. In the last load, I needed both 4Runners. One with a hitch hiker on the back and the other one with a roof rack, that I found thanks to this thread.

coleman safari rack

The roof rack was $60 and fit both the 2001 and 2004 4Runner. Both cars were completely full in the back and of course the trailer was full.

I had my 2004 checked out the day before I left and the mechanic said the transmission oil was a little burnt, well after 17 loads going 600 miles and then 600 miles back, I am not surprised.

I sold my camper, but I bought a fishing boat, so having a 4Runner will come in handy in Florida.

Would I do it again, if I had the chance, the answer is "NO", I would get a mover. Still it is done and the 4Runner family is better then ever.

So, what am I doing in Florida? Fishing, I figured if I count all my expenses for the boat, fishing gear, bait and up keep, then I count the amount of fish I have caught, it cost me around $834 a pound for the fish filet.

I cannot think of any situation that would take me 2 years and 17 trips to make a move... but if you're happy, then all is well!

Just for future reference, there is this new business out there called "U-Haul". They rent trucks, some big ones even, to people who wish to move their belongings from one place to another more efficiently. On edit, Hyde beat me to it...

Good luck!

Well, it all started out with us going back and forth between the two houses and we looked into renting a U-Haul small trailer. It was going to cost over $350 dollars to rent one, well why not just buy a trailer used and use it to help out.

I help move my mom and I kept moving crap, along with all my stuff. It took a least another hour to drive the trip with the trailer and it is a bit of a pain to drive the trailer. I used both 4Runners and sometimes, I didn't drive the trailer.

I had to buy new tires and a few things for the trailer. So, it started innocently enough, but I guess it just got carried away.

A boat is hole in the water that you pour money into. If you add up all the things men spend their time and money on everything $834 fish is cheap. Have fun don't count the dollars. I am the guy in the white shirt my buddy built the P-51 Mustang were standing on. He owns two they are fast, fun, and expensive award wining planes. Very expensive but Bob has a ball flying them.
