Some auto mfgs. elected to use plastic for the heater core pipes that run from the heater core thru the firewall.
Working an issue with one of my older Asian SUVs. Had to pull heater hoses off the plastic heater core pipes. One held up; the other broke, but much of it is still intact. I could bypass the heater, but that ain't fun in the winter.
I plan on using a Dayco plastic hose connecter - 1/2" on one end ; 5/8" on the other to patch broken plastic heater core pipe. The 1/2" side of the Dayco connector fits somewhat snugly in the broken plastic heater core pipe. I have to be careful just how far I insert this patch piece in order to not impede coolant flow. The patch piece is straight and the broken plastic heater core pipe is elbowed

I need to seal this connection and am thinking about using a JB Weld product. I've gone thru their web site and see they have products for plastics, but am not real sure which will withstand heated coolant(temp and chemical composition). At homedepot.com I see KwikWeld and a lot of talk about how it would be perfect for my situation, but to my knowledge, KwikWeld is just a faster curing version of basic JBWeld which is not suitable for plastic.
Perhaps there's a better product to use for this situation or someone here knows of a suitable JB plastic product that fits this situation. Hoping to get it right first time.
