Hunting Season!!!

My favorite time of year. Time to break out the arsenal, clean it up, sight it in, and start scheduling hunts. Who all here hunts? I mainly hunt quail and deer but try and sneak in a few dove hunts. Used to hunt goose and duck exclusively but after 10 years of freezing to death in frozen rice patties dad and I gave it up. I still try and do at least one teal hunt a year but haven't been very good about it these last few years.

Have never attempted quail or turkey or even Bow hunting. We usually just do Deer on my Dads property and surrounding farms! Good luck this season

Hunting season is year round for me. I hunt hogs at night here in Texas. I used to run a night vision and thermal hog hunting guide service, but a recent move made me shut it down. I love to bow hunt whitetail and do some wing shooting here and there. The fall and winter is the best time of the year.

Did one turkey hunt and would love to go again. I hear them and have seen them crossing the roads at the deer lease but they are never on my actual lease. Sucks.

I don't hunt hogs but I kill them every chance I get.

Never bow hunted. Just doesn't seem appealing to me. Got several friends that do. Might have to try it out. Hoping to get a shot at a deer during muzzle loader season. Traded an old sub and amp for a model 700 remington .54cal black powder that I'm itching to try out. Fun gun to shoot.

I used to hunt dove and pheasant. Haven't deer hunted in years, but love to. I need to get on some hogs here in Texas and put my firearms to some use other than the range!

Not trying to rip you here but unless you're hunting in Northern Minnesota or Wisconsin or anywhere up here I doubt you know what it's like. It freakin' sucks and makes me question why I live here and do it every year.

Speaking of hogs my friend lost his TT 300zx to a hog in SC doing 60 on US Highway 17 five years ago. It bent the frame it was so big. I think he got $8000 for the car. He bought a truck to just run over them now.

Nothing in the fall for me. Usually just turkey which is a month and a half in the spring. I spend enough time as it is saltwater fishing.

Hunting in 25-32* in the mist ain't exactly a cake walk. Last hunt it was cold enough to freeze the frost on dad's glasses the second we got out of the truck. That was the last time we hunted goose. Y'all are freaking nuts hunting them in the weather y'all got.

That was in Texas?!?! Sheesh I guess I can't move there to hunt now. The coldest that I've gone out with my dad it started at 10* in the morning. Deer season is even worse especially the last weekend which is just before thanksgiving. The high temp rarely gets above 25* unless it's a warm spell then it gets to 40-45*.

It's not unusual for us to be right at freezing or a tick below. Generally it runs from mid 30s to mid 50s with absolutely no rhythm. I've lived in Austin for almost 8 years and it's iced over here twice to the point we had to shut the city down. Highways were frozen and everything. Had snow one year. But thankfully our winters are 3 months long. Right now it's a 100* and close to the same humidity.

Went out opening day of deer season last year, that was my first and so far only time hunting. More like nature watching in a tripod holding a bow, as nothing came close enough to draw back on.

This year should be far more promising. I just bought a house and a day hasn't gone by that I haven't seen a deer on my way to or from work. I actually saw a nice 8 pointer driving home tonight a couple miles from home.

There's a neighborhood by my in laws that the sob's are so thick and plentiful they lay down in the front yards and nap. I'd have so much deer jerky I'd need a new house.
