Drove an H3 today

It was pretty fun , kinda slow off the line but fun vehicle. it felt pretty solid. It already had 40k on it and it was my customers truck/SUV.

I've driven one before on an off road obstacle course and thought it was cool the thing's it can go & over and articulate.

I know everyone here hates Hummers but I like the H1 Military version and the H3.

In low range it's a super low crawl ratio , in 4wd you can turn trac. control on or off . It was pretty cool IMO.

Re: Drove an H3 today

Out-of-the-box, it is a very capable rig, esp. if you get the Adventure Package. The '07 model will have a slightly more powerful engine. My only concern is with it's weak aluminum front differential. There have been several cases already of it grenading with mild off-roading.

The leaf springs and not-so-clean underbody are minor concerns for me. The ride was fine when i testdrove it. The accessories are pretty cool...their skidplate package looks great = real protection.

I really like the H3 and when I test drove one it rode pretty nicely. Normal driving was ok but when you stomped on the pedal not much more happened.

Off the lot it is a pretty good deal considering, especially with the adventure package, you don't have to upgrade tires or buy an ARB bumper, shackles and stuff. And I agree with Thai, I really like many of the accessories i.e rock rails, skids, roof lights.

Still too many compromises to give up the 4runner though AND its a GM and I worry about how the whole truck will hold up (not just reliability but "tightness" for lack of a better term)

you know, I think GM got it more right with the H3 than the H2
actually, having wheeled both, I consider the H2 a useless pig, and the H3 a capable machine offroad
I will stick with My FJC or Wrangler however, they seem to be more my style.

I seriously looked at the H3 before I bought the 4R. What was stated about the power is exactly why I did'nt buy it. I liked everything else though.

I agree H2 is a big pig IMO. Never appealed to me. I guess there is an H4 in the works that's going to be smaller yet.

The H3 is the only saving grace to the Hummer line , the H4 should help the brand keep going.
