Looks to be a 3rd Gen with Tacoma wheels on it. I hope that everyone was ok.

That's pretty hardcore. I'd say Hunter is one lucky little boy.

not really sure how she thinks a rear facing carseat would have prevented anything. if anything based on the way the roof collapsed, he'd be dead.

And this is why roof strength testing by IIHS has become important in recent years.
Yeah agree with above...not sure if rear-facing is the answer.

Yikes and gruesome pics!! It is amazing the kid even survived!
That's it...my next vehicles must have amazing roof strength, esp if it is truck or SUV.

don't loose site of what your driving and hauling
Watch the outside temp, slow down, and don't get distracted by the passengers, text, radio, or the pretty chick in the passenger seat rubbing your leg, and most accidents of this type are avoidable.
This could have been a life changing disaster, thank god "they lived".

I lost a parent in a rollover accident in which the A-pillar collapsed. The threat is very real, let me just say that much.

Paranoid and scared? No, it is rather me controlling things that i have control of...instead of being ignorant.
Good luck into your Ford Pinto. I am sure that you do not wear seat belts either! Pull that ABS fuse...those things are not needed. Leave your house doors open too.
There is a difference b/w being stupid and being smart. I rather be smart. YMMV cashmoney.

It's life. It doesn't matter what you do, when it's your time to go it's your time to go. Might as well relax and go along for the ride. I quit worrying about controlling things a long time ago. Makes life so much more enjoyable when I'm not trying to control or prepare for every little thing that can go wrong. This could have ended tragically for sure but that's no reason for me to change what I drive or how I drive or anything else.

I have not seen any report of speed of the vehicle or tire type and remaining tire depth. The morning this happened local black ice was bad.

Glad they're ok because that is probably the worst rollover roof damage wise I've seen with a 4Runner. That said this was most likely preventable, if ice is out SLOW DOWN, you can't see it. I can't tell if it's 4WD either, and I know that isn't always the answer, but it does help. Lots of people out there who say "I drive a Truck or SUV, so I can do anything in winter weather!". Not true, a 2WD truck or SUV really won't be any better than a mustang in the snow
