I spent my younger years playing Call of Duty, right up to Black Ops. MW3 killed the entire franchise for me after that. I spent way too many hours on GTA4 as well. Great times playing that game.

On my gaming rig I play a lot of Hearts and Spider Solitaire (did I mention my gaming rig is from 1999?). Ski Free and Minesweeper, too.

For consoles, I play a lot of Mario Kart (SNES).

I have an emulator I use to run some Win95-98 games (Syndicate / Syndicate Wars and Carmageddon, mostly).

But seriously though, I haven't played video games much in recent years. The wife so graciously allows me a few hours of free time on the weekends while she takes care of the kiddo. So I usually spend it mowing the lawn and doing other housework. On the rare chance there's time left after that, I spend it in the garage swearing at inanimate objects and transferring small amounts of flesh from my knuckles to car parts.

Not much of a player anymore, but I created a few adventure games for the Mac back in the '90s. Last year one of them was updated to run on OS X and is available in the App Store:

A Mess O' Trouble - A Ray's Maze Adventure

Yup,

Although I probably spent more time making an awesome rig than necessary considering that I don't have *that* much time any more for games.

I still play a fair bit of Fallout 4 (non triple wide screen format frustrates me)
Online I play Borderlands 2 (because it's still awesome) with a couple of the guys from work.

No Man's Sky was a huge disappointment (Also terrible triple wide support).

My mood changes!

Rig Specs:
Asus Rampage V Extreme Motherboard
i7-5930k @ 4.4 GHZ
32 GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2666 MHZ RAM
3x EVGA GTX 980 SC
Kingston HyperX Predator M2 SSD (system)
Corsair 960 GB Neutron XT SSD
Corsair 900D case with some mods
Corsair 1200AX PSU
3x LG IPS 23" 1080p screens
Bose 5.1 Speakers
ROG Spatha Mouse
Logitech K800 keyboard

Full water cooling blocks/back plates and twin pump/reservoir by EK cooling
2x XSPX 480mm Radiators

(Note the cardboard microphone holder that I really need to create properly one day!)

Any of you guys gamers?

I am currently playing CS:GO messing around with some Diablo II for the sake of nostalgia.

Farmville, mafia wars, etc doesn't count.
If you are going to play DII, at least play L.O.D edition ;)

I think you can play Syndicate via one of those flash-based online games sites. Good thing we blocked flash here at work, otherwise... I'd spend all of my time playing that instead of... well... browsing this site.

That game and the game "Cannon Fodder" were probably my top 2 games before I got a computer good enough to play flight sims.

Talking of Carmageddon... Anyone else here tried the "new" one?

Carmageddon: Reincarnation.

I think it captures the original pretty well, plays pretty much the same.. looks prettier.

I also have much love for the older Command & Conquer games.. before they ruined the franchise for ever with Red Alert 3 and it got worse still with C&C 4.

I haven't heard of it. I was just happy when I played Carmageddon years after I'd first played it on my 133mhz Pentium and the loading screen didn't take 5 minutes to process.

Have you tried it on your beastly gaming warp core... er... computer?

Yes! PC gamer here since I was 7 or 8 (now 32). These days my die-hardness fluctuates depending on my climbing partner availability/ability to get outside. However, getting games and peripherals to work (IRQ address issues for joysticks...yeah) back in the day (early 90s) was what got me into computers and what I can likely attribute my IT career roots to.

I'm about to drop some money on a new i7 VR build at the end of the month. Currently still enjoying BF4 but going to start on BF1 when the new build is done.

My gaming history favorites have been (in no particular order): most and all iD games (DOOM, Heretic, Hexen, Quake, Keen), Apogee/3D Realm hits like RoTT and Duke Nukem, various flight sims (DCS World is why I want a VR rig), anything and everything Star Wars (Dark Forces, X-Wing, TIE, Rebel Assault), Half-Life everything (CS too), MechWarrior(s), StarCraft, Command and Conquer, and the Battlefield series all the way back to 1942 (1942, Viet, 2, 3, and 4, but could do without Hardline and some of the other stuff in there).

I will say that the latest Doom release was the single best PC gaming experience I've had in ages (maybe since HL2) ****ing incredible that I was literally outloud giddy as I played it, and I yelled "**** YES" as the end credits came on after the final boss. They set the bar so high for revisiting a classic title and just nailed it so far out of the park.

I was just having a conversation about modded 4Runners in the Zombie 48p server last night! Which servers do you usually play on?

It seems like we're all pretty old-school here too, so I'll offer this too...anyone else hate the whole DLC concept? I miss when games were complete when you bought them, and if anything else needed to be added, they'd come out with a new game (e.g. Doom II, III). It used to drive me nuts when I was a broke college kid and it just doesn't feel very egalitarian anymore.

I had a sick Frenzy Barbarian with two BOTD swords. He was disgustingly good!

As a side note, i too played the hell out of CSS 1.6!! When you had a good bunch of guys and gals, it was very strategic to play. Then, all of the damn cheats ruined it.

Hey, I blame CS for instilling in me the instantaneous reaction to jump-duck every time someone is shooting at me.
