For the traditional method, I use Washita and Arkansas stones with oil.

For a quick and dirty, I pull out an AccuSharp:

For sharpening, either a Lansky stone system or Work Sharp Ken Onion Edition.

I find most just buy a new knife. Sharpening is an art. Over the years i have done everything from belt sander to abrasives on plate glass, stones to diamond sharpener. Just like seeing what people use. Some elaborate systems out there.

I know a guy who spends hours making his blades so sharp he’s proud that he can shave hair with them.
I just take a few swipes of a handheld sharpener so I can get back to cutting dead animal flesh.

You might laugh, but I have my own special rock that I've been using for more than a year now and I wouldn't trade it for an electric sharpener. You might want to take a look at an article with a video about how the Knife Analyst sharpens a cleaver. Those are the types of articles I read to make sure I take the best care possible of my knives, especially cleavers which are just so much more sensitive than regular knives and you also want them to be in optimal shape. Those are little details that don't really affect the typical user, but if you are more into the professional area, you surely understand what big difference it makes in cutting the raw materials or finished product for presentation.

I've been using the Spyderco knife sharpener for a few years now and have been very pleased with how easy it is to use and how sharp you can get a knife edge quickly.

I have a basic Kershaw as a edc. I forget the model. It works fine for what I need. When out camping I bring my Esee 6.

Hate to say, it has been a week and not finding my BM Grip. I have a Mini and just ordered a Boker small auto. I tried a Ganzo small Spyderco copy. fine for around the house use. May look at their larger blades.

New to this forum but I've been collecting custom knives for over 30 years. I have fixed, folders, small and large, inexpensive and very expensive. I've reached a point where I only buy a knife or two a year, mostly inexpensive pieces from makers on BladeForums, some gifts for my family.

Two of my favorites pieces:

I'm a sucker for cord wrapped knives, I have somewhere around 20. This one is my latest, from a maker in Poland, East meets West, sheath from Nixon Leather.
