What happened to OSU?
I thought the game last night was going to be lopsided but I thought that Ohio State was going to walk all over Florida and not the other way around.
Congrats to Florida for being champs in both college basketball and now football.
41-14. Wow!

Yup, The Heisman Panel likes to just give them away. So many other good players that deserved it.

Could have been much worse - the Gators showed the poor Buckeyes some mercy in the 4th quarter by taking a knee at the goal line (probably cuz Coach Meyer is an OSU grad)

I think it would have been more fair if the SEC let South Carolina or Kentucky play Ohio State...

That was a great game! I don't think OSU took the game seriously.

Florida came to play and win.
On another day at another time....the outcome of that game could've easily been just the opposite.
The Gators should feel lucky they didn't play the Buckeyes during mid-season. They came close to not getting the vote to even play for the championship.
It was the Gators at their best, and OSU at their worse.
Congrats to the Gators! The way they played on Monday, they deserved the big win.
Go Bucks!!!!!!
[The Heisman trophy was earned by a great player. Too bad his one poor game was for the national championship.]
BTW, that banner at the top of the page is totally annoying. But I'm sure the Buckeyes would be up there if they would've won

Troy Smith joins Vinny Testaverde,Jason White,Gino Torreta and another trophy winner which has slipped my mind at the moment as QBs who had lousy championship game performances.

And if you notice further, none of them ever lived up to expectations.

OK so if Florida would have played OSU in the middle of their season, Florida would have lost?
Real tuff schedule for the middle of the season.
1-Northern Illinois
2-Texas
3-Cincinnati
4-Penn State
5-Iowa
6-Bowling Green
7-Michigan state
8-Indiana
9-Minnesota
10-Illinois
11-Northwestern
12-Michigan
Florida played Five top ten teams during the season
LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee
Ohio played two top ten teams
Ohio needs to join the SEC so they can have three or four losses a season...
Also, Thai hit the nail on the head with the living up to the expectations... Guess we will just have to wait and see...

Question...why is the Heisman presented before the bowl games?? Shouldn't it be given after the bowl games?? According to college standings/rankings, a bowl game is like a regular season game...that is, if you lost, then you have a -1 on your record. Thus, a bowl game should be no different than other games, right?? If so, then shouldn't the Heisman be presented after the bowl games??
Unfortunately, Troy Smith joins the ranks of many other Heisman winners with average talent (too small, relatively weak arm, frail looking...only good is running the ball), but blessed with a good team.
In the NFL, "Most Valuable Player" is presented after the season has ended but before the playoffs because MVP is an award for regular season play. And in the NFL, if you lose a playoff game, it does NOT change the regular season record. Thus, MVP makes sense.
I don't get the Heisman...it should be given to the nation's top player who has done the most for his/her team. Losing or choking the national championship game is NOT helping your team.

What else would they do during a 50 day layoff?
Therein lies the problem. OSU was on a roll during the regular season, but 50 days off is ridiculous! It becomes a real crapshoot. Clearly, the offensive line showed signs of rust
I dont see anything abnormal in their schedule, after all they did schedule the defending national champion, Texas. Penn St, Iowa and NW can be one of those teams who can steal a game from you. The rest of the games are mostly in-conference. Admittedly, there were a few cupcakes on the schedule, but every team does it.
Its disappointing to see a blowout of a good team who, oviously did not play up to their potential. I'm not taking anything away from UF, Meyer has been able to get the most out of his teams first at U of U and now at UF. They came out, took OSU's opening jab and controlled the rest of the game.

I'll tell you what happen:
They got their arses handed to them on a SEC golden platter. The Gators even gave them some utensils so they could chomp down on their own butts.
That was a beat down! It's the same kind of beat down that the Ohio State Luckeyes and the Missagain WOvaltines would have received at least 3-4 times if they played a season long SEC schedule.
