Luckily the LG Oleds currently support all available HDR content. Love my B7A. Got it very cheap during LGs black Friday sales.

If you don't mind me asking how cheap is very cheap? Hoping to see some good deals now that the 2018 stuff is releasing.

Purchased an LG B7 a couple months ago, 55", I believe it was $1599. All I can say is I will never buy another non-OLED tv again. Stunning is an understatement. Nothing I've seen comes close, especially in a totally dark room, you can't go any other way.

I love my B6 but I believe none of the 2016, 2017, 2018 LG models support HDR 10+ which is the very best freeware competitor Dolby Vision.

There's Advanced HDR by Technicolor, a nascent HDR format from the people who brought you colored cartoons; Hybrid Log Gamma, which is the standard designed to work with broadcast television; and finally, HDR10+, a new standard that builds some of the benefits of Dolby Vision into an open-standard akin to HDR10.

I would never buy a TV in March / April. You want to catch the summer holiday sales. Here in the US that is Memorial Day weekend .... May 28st, next up is the day we set the British in place ... 4th of July. After the mid year hump the price will remain stable mostly until the final lowest price of the year which is Black Friday after Thanksgiving.
The Black Friday sales by LG, Samsung, etc are not what you are probably used to. The TV vendors simply over stock the online and physical stores with dozens of inventory on all high end LG models and then drop the price for these models temporarily. They want to clear out inventory at this time. By Saturday night they will be mostly sold out. Then on Monday the price will go back up where it will stay until the end of year. When the 2019 models come out in March 2019 the price cycle will reset. I have observed this for two complete year buying cycles.
Right now in the US you can buy the LG B7 @ 65" (2018 models haven't been stocked yet) for $2,500 US. That means they have a good amount of left over inventory I assume.
When the B8 launches the 65" will likely cost well over $3,000 to $3,500 US. Then by July it will fall to $2,500 and by Black Friday 11/23/18 personally I think it will fall to $2,250 or $2,300 US setting a new lowest price ever.
Reference:
* 2016 lowest price for 65" B6 was $2,800 US on Black Friday weekend
* 2017 lowest price for 65" B7 was $2,500 US on Black Friday weekend

I saw the 65” LG OLED on sale at Costco for $2,299 a few weeks ago. I’m willing to bet it will drop to $1,999 by black Friday 2018.
No regrets.

Last year's 7 series I assume? I'm starting to see the new 8 series show up in stores.

Probably. The 2018 B8 isn’t for sale yet at Costco. Only C8.
Costco’s website is sold out of 2017 65” OLEDs, which makes sense.
Either way, I think by Black Friday the B8 will be in stock at Costco and sub $2,000.
Not bad for the highest picture quality TV on the planet.

Nice. The Sony is also an LG panel, right?

I think that’s correct. The LG’s are really nice also, had $900 in Best Buy gift cards and popped for the Sony.
Went for the Bose SoundTouch 300 sound bar and sub also - it’s been a bear to set up but sounds incredible. I was using a Marantz slim line receiver with some in wall Polks with 8” woofers and a little Definitive Technology sub, never liked the in walls all that much.
Curious to see how it goes and if they drop the price on that tv in next two weeks I’ll get the price matched. The A1E isn’t Sony’s newest 65”.

Ill just throw this out there...
I was in the market for a new TV a few months ago and was planning on going with an LG OLED. However, I walked out of the store with a LG 4K 55 inch with HDR and 120 htz refresh.
2 reasons: 1) I was standing in the store and I asked myself if the price difference was really worth it. I must have walked back on forth between the two TV's 20 times, and I finally decided that the 4K was just a fantastic picture, despite not having an OLED screen. I know that OLED is what most 4K TV's will be here in a few years as the technology becomes less expensive, but I just couldn't justify it at the time. I watch a ton of sports and Netflix and play some video games, and I don't think I'm missing much by not going with the OLED.
2) The second reason was I got a $1200 TV for $350 out of my pocket after sales and gift cards. I would have been about 800 for a 50" OLED I was looking at.
Hope this helps.

Nothing wrong with that deal. Still no regrets buying my OLED, but probably not a huge difference between mine and your $1200 one...
