Yes check out rtings.com
My neighbor just bought a good Samsung 800 series 65" for about $750. It was previous years model but hlaf the cost.
4th of July weekend there should be sales.
Always check: Costco.com, Best Buy, Crutchfield.
The great thing about RTINGS.com is they are independent and offer a lot of options and rank the TVs.
Know that QLED is a marketing scam. Don't let your friends fall for it.

TV Reviews: Best of 2019 - RTINGS.com has pretty good reviews. You could also buy a cheaper "dumb" TV and get a Firestick or Roku. My parents still have one of those huge rear-projector type TVs in their basement den and my brother connected a Roku to it LOL

That's the plan. I know she has an old Roku. Is there any advantage to getting something like a Firestick too? I really know nothing about them.

Perfect. Thanks. Just looking for something simple and cheap.

Both have Prime video and Netflix (pretty sure similar other channel/app content but I never directly compared) so one doesn't have an advantage over another.
My parents' living room TV has an Amazon Fire, but since the basement TV only has S-video and component/RCA inputs my brother had to get the Roku.

Your TV is merely struggling to adapt to darkness but my OLED was born in the dark !!!!!!!!!!
Just watched the latest GoT episode, OMG. So good. And it looked amazing and we could see everything just fine. OLEDs really shine in these scenes.
Going on 2.5 years now with my LG B6 OLED. Totally worth it. Trust me.
Btw you guys bagging on LG make me laugh. Those Panasonic and Sony OLEDs are LG OLED panels. They are LG panels just with a bigger sticker price and different menu system. Google it.
|
I didn't have this issue either. I have a 55" Samsung UHD OLED and the picture was excellent. MVP of the Episode?

HEY GUYS,
There is a sale right now to snag a 65" 2018 B8 LG OLED for $1,899 at Best Buy.
BTW I recently went over to a friends house to watch terrible finale of GoT and they have a 65" Samsung 2018 800 series. This was one of my first chances to do a comparison. The OLED is easily 10x better and just blows that Samsung out of the water, especially with blacks and the terrible viewing angle of a Samsung.
Anyways here is the link. I don't expect the few that are left to last long.

Any good suggested deals on a decent cheap tv? Still haven't picked up one for my gf's new place. Looking under 50". Preferably one with the option to wirelessly screen mirror from a MacBook.

Hey hepar,
I'm not sure but if I were in your shoes I would check out RTINGs and then Best Buy. I bought my TV in 2017 from Crutchfield. They are a great site and at the time didn't charge sales tax.

I am considering a OLED to replace my P50ST50. This tv is fantastic and not a single issue in 7 years BUT it is basically a room heater. A pleasure in winter but uncomfortable in the warmer months. I have a room thermometer near it and it brings the room temp up a good 5-6 degrees.
How are these OLEDs with heat output?
Knowing myself, I will probably not buy one till the ST50 dies, but if the right deal came along then I might pounce.

OLED TV's, what are the advantages/disadvantages?
Picture looks amazing on the demo units I've seen but I'm sure there is more to it than that. Do they have issues with image retention? How are they with gaming and screen burn in?
My current main screen is a Panasonic plasma (GT50) I purchased a few years back. I'm still happy with it, but I'd like to get something 4K. All the demo units I've seen have been shown off with 4K content. Do different brands/manufacturers do a better job of scaling up lower resolution content to the 4K screen? Will 720p or 1080p content look significantly better than the plasma I currently have, or do you need 4K content to really see the benefits of OLED?
I've been looking at an LG C7/B7 OLED TV. They've come down a ton in price from what they used to be but its a 2017 model, will there be newer models coming out in the near future?
Any other tips/experiences/advice would be appreciated.

I am also interested in this question, I look forward to new models.

Which question? He asked more than 5.
The answer is probably go to RTings.com and read the reviews. Research it. This forum is not a dedicated OLED forum.

Don't get robbed.
When you are purchasing your new 4K TV make sure it's not really a 2K (QHD) in sheeps 4K clothing. A lot of monitors have a giant 4K on the box but if you look at the details it takes a 4K image and down converts it to a 2K image that the monitor displays. In smaller and cheaper monitors you might or might not notice. You might not even care. Just know what you are buying.

Sure... But if you buy an LG OLED then it is definitely real 4K.
