Want to get a new shop vac. Currently have a small 5 gallon Shop Vac and I hate it. It's such a cheap POS. Leaning towards the Rigid 14 gal 5.0hp. But curious if you guys have something that you like.

My shop vac brand has been with me for over 30 yrs. Has always worked great, and easy to use, and its been really abused. wheels are all broken etc, Anyway, I wanted a new one. So I bought a Riggid. Works well, but not as well as the old shopvac, even though it is much bigger and heftier. Probably the big dislike is the hose. It's extremely stiff, making it harder to control and just not very handy. Other than that, its fine.
I use that 16 gallon one. good investment, sucks up everything. its good to use in the truck also, sucks up every dust . get the hepa filter so you can use it all around the house.
still got the old 5 gallon shop vac brand, it works, but the suction power really weak. now all the vas these days are serviceable, so you might want to take it apart and clean out and service the filters.

Oh man. I bought my current Shop Vac to replace a 25+ year old Shop Vac. I LOVED that thing. It worked great up until the very end. That's why I bought another Shop Vac the second time around. So disappointed.

For mine it's not the suction power (I knew it wouldn't be the best being it was a 2.0hp model. Bought it mainly for size) but the build quality and design. It's just so obviously cheap and the way the lid attaches to the base is an absolute joke.

I have a newer Shop Vac, 6 gallon I think. I layed a bead of silicone around the lip of the lid and let it dry before putting it back on and it has more power and the lid doesn't leak and fall off now!

That's a good idea. Something so simple that it would say a lot if they just did that from the start.

Have had it for a few days. Already love it. It's solid, has a usable cord (20ft vs 6ft), crazy amount of suction and is ridiculously quiet. We'll see how it holds up longterm, but I'm pretty confident in it.

Given the increased suck, not sure it would be wise to replace it with any current gf.
