I just started "The Right Side of History" so far so good. He talks about religion a bit much but even if you aren't religious that is really irrelevant because religion is a major part of our history and the reasoning behind the choices leaders have made over the last several centuries so it is important to the story of the enlightenment, the civil rights movement ect.
The Right Side of History: How Reason and Moral Purpose Made the West Great
https://www.amazon.com/Right-Side-Hi...dp/B07NPVGXCQ/
- "Western civilization is in the midst of a crisis of purpose and ideas. Our freedoms are built upon the twin notions that every human being is made in God's image and that human beings were created with reason capable of exploring God's world.
- We can thank these values for the birth of science, the dream of progress, human rights, prosperity, peace, and artistic beauty. Jerusalem and Athens built America, ended slavery, defeated the Nazis and the Communists, lifted billions from poverty, and gave billions spiritual purpose. Jerusalem and Athens were the foundations of the Magna Carta and the Treaty of Westphalia; they were the foundations of the Declaration of Independence, Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, and Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Letter from Birmingham Jail."

I finished The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt. Very good stuff. Watch one of his youtube talks to know what you're getting into.

I've been listening to " 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus" on Audible.
1491 (Audiobook) by Charles C. Mann | Audible.com
Fantastic and enlightening book about the true history of the Americas. Really an entertaining and educational read, and astonishing to hear some of the facts they've discovered.
Partial book summary:
"In a book that startles and persuades, Mann reveals how a new generation of researchers equipped with novel scientific techniques came to previously unheard-of conclusions. Among them:
- In 1491 there were probably more people living in the Americas than in Europe.
- Certain cities - such as Tenochtitlán, the Aztec capital - were far greater in population than any contemporary European city. Furthermore, Tenochtitlán, unlike any capital in Europe at that time, had running water, beautiful botanical gardens, and immaculately clean streets.
- The earliest cities in the Western Hemisphere were thriving before the Egyptians built the great pyramids.
- Pre-Columbian Indians in Mexico developed corn by a breeding process so sophisticated that the journal Science recently described it as "man's first, and perhaps the greatest, feat of genetic engineering".
- Amazonian Indians learned how to farm the rain forest without destroying it - a process scientists are studying today in the hope of regaining this lost knowledge.
- Native Americans transformed their land so completely that Europeans arrived in a hemisphere already massively "landscaped" by human beings."
Highly recommended!

Just finished How to Do Nothing by Jenny Odell. An excellent rebuke of the attention economy, including ways of focusing our attention in the real world, while eschewing the social push towards 'productivity'.

"The obstacle is the way" by Ryan Holiday. Really solid book. Especially if you are like me and buy vehicles that turn out to be never ending projects..

Just finished "How to Hide an Empire" by Daniel Immerwahr. Great book about the colonial history of the U.S. Very eye-opening, gave me a better understanding of how we managed and justified our colonial holdings, and how it has influenced our current state.

I've read two books by Yuval Noah Harari: "Sapiens" and "Homo Deus". It is very interesting. This was a good reason to take this topic for an essay. Thanks to Bestessay, I was able to analyze the author's futurological views and his historical principles. I love such conceptual thoughts.

"Being an old light novel reader, I advise you to read some light novels. Especially, a light novel named *Martial god asura*, it is very deep and at the same time easy to read the novel. Anybody can find something interesting to read in a light novel genre.
Also, I will recommend you to read War Sovereign Soaring The Heavens and Hidden Marriage novels.
Btw, I know how hard to find a good source to read all light novels from one place, check this website, maybe it will help you."
