I love your passion man! I'm not going to have long back and forth because you will simply out type me in sheer volume of text.
I can only compare it hands on to the 8 Plus but in pictures it feels like a 5 year better camera system then my wife's iPhone, the differences are that stark.
I do wish I had access to an XS though.
Re costs I believe it is only $400 at Verizon with a new line.
My camera has never had any of the issues described. I don't take one offs very seriously. There are plenty of people who write about hating their iPhone and I don't take those stories seriously either since they are one-offs.

It’s not sheer volume of text...it is sheer volume of FACTS that you conveniently keep on ignoring.
XS camera system is VERY DIFFERENT than 8+. Bigger sensor. Smart HDR via A12. Smart HDR is very different from Auto HDR in 8+.
Brian, you keep on posting the same misunderstanding over and over again. What’s the deal dude?
I get it...you like your Pixel 3 and i like my XS. But you keep on saying Smart HDR is same as older iPhones again and again won’t make it come true!

Yeah, no one is buying Pixel. Huge discounts on it. Resale is bad.
One offs? Dude, there is a whole article about it! Confirmed by the two main editors of that site!

I will agree with Thai in that the camera is quite different from the 8 to the XS. I haven't compared it, but it's also supposed to be a noticeable step up from the X. I can't personally say how it stacks up against the Pixel 3, but I do have a friend with one and he raves about its photo/video prowess.

8+ and X (not XS) have similar camera system, except that X telephoto lens has OIS and wider aperture (f/2.4 vs. f/2.8 in 8+).
XS main lens (f/1.8) is much different from before. Bigger sensor. Same aperture. OIS, but this is no different from before. Same size sensor as Pixel 2/3 and Samsung. Then you add in the processing power of A12 Smart HDR.
XS telephoto lens (f/2.4) has OIS as well (like X). Same sensor size as X/8 telephoto lens. Then you add in the processing power of A12 Smart HDR.
DxO is very controversial...not sure how those scores translate to real-world conditions. But look at the first few Youtubers and decide for yourself. It’s close...but XS still king with dynamic range. Clearly, based on DxO, S10 and Mate 20 should blow XS out of the water...but that's not the case.
Surprisingly, S10 no longer uses telephoto lens for Portraits, which explains some distortions in their Portraits.
We got our daughter a 256gb Xs Max a few days ago. It's an amazing phone. Especially compared to our ancient S7's. I have never owned an iPhone, but that phone makes me want to make the switch.
After watching the camera comparison b/w S10 vs. Xs Max vs. Mate 20 Pro.......Smart HDR is class-leading. Nothing else out there right now can compare with Smart HDR in everyday shooting (pics and video).
The report noted, "In fact, the S9 lost 10.73% more of its resale value in the first month of release than the iPhone X did in nine months! Ouch."
This year, Apple's latest iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max models have similarly retained about 85 percent to 95 percent of their original sale value.
Resale value is seldom considered by reviewers discussing the upfront price of a device. Yet for a major purchase like a $999 iPhone X, the fact that it only depreciated by 30 percent over the first nine months is a substantial factor in buying it. With a resale value of $690, buyers can trade in their existing model and apply the residual value towards the purchase of a brand new iPhone XS.
I haven’t gotten my hands on it, but Samsung has always been more innovative than Apple IMO. It can be debated, but that’s how I see it. I love their phone designs, they change it up more than Apple does and one of the big factors for the S10 being attractive to me is that it has the fingerprint scanner. I hate how the XS doesn’t and unlocking it takes longer when you aren’t able to have it scan your face.
