only in jersey

so, its 41 degrees out, it wont freeze until next week. tomorrow, it will be in the upper 50's and up to 2 inches of rain. so what does the great state of new jersey do? brines the roads. and not just this time, they have been doing it every couple days, since governor numb nuts sat at a bar drinking at our one and only snow storm and took no action.

time to move

I don't even think we have salt in Dallas. If we do it is rarely used. No rust on our vehicles down here.

I don't have rust either, its just all the work I do, washing it off, spraying with fluid film.

if we had snow, I would be somewhat ok with it, but we don't. they just spray and spray

Yeah, I happened to be in Dallas a few years ago when you guys were hit with an ice storm. No salt, and they were saying there were only a couple of trucks that they were using to spread some sand for traction. Things were a mess on the roads but a lot of that was people not knowing how to drive in the conditions.

We use enough salt to make up for you guys up here though, and our vehicles sure show it.

Not just NJ.... here in Ohio the main roads have been brined for days, and they're still working on covering the rest. There's enough salt in the parking lot at work that it's practically a gravel lot (not kidding). Today's high is 49F, tomorrow 59F.

Don't you just call it a "snowflake" and rub some dirt on it? lol

It will be interesting to see the long term effects I have never treated the frame and rarely wash in the winter and of course I have surface rust on the welds and areas that took a beating off road and some of the hardware but nothing that concerns me 4 years later - in another 4 years we shall see

It is a bummer we waste so many public resources treating roads when its not needed

While it is annoying and why I buy a membership to a unlimited carwashes with undercarriage spraying for the winter months, I think some people forget that although it is 50 during the day with all of the rain and at night the below freezing temps make for some interesting icy spots which is what I assume they are spraying for.

It’s because there was a chance for freezing drizzle around midnight last night.

Well I live in Nova Scotia... I bought this vehicle new in March 2013 and had it undercoated by the dealer as part of the purchase price. I do a clay and wax twice a year and hand wash only (winter gets the rinse off at the do it yourself wash bays). According to everyone else: my 4Runner looks brand new.

Its not exactly a waste, more like a rat hole for politicians to throw $ down to their supporters. Par for the course here in Jersey.

Our great governor Murphy and NYC Mayor Warren Wilhelm AKA Bill Deblasio are trying to make up for that snow storm clusterf*ck that shut down the state and Manhattan back in November.

I freaking hate that brine. I replaced the hardware on my 3rd-gen's foglight to stainless maybe 2 years ago and almost all of them are rusted and seized.

Ha----typical jersey BS

I replaced my exhaust at 30k miles with Borla and had to cut most of the bolts off the stock set up, they where rusted so bad. NJ is not easy on cars or your wallet.
